Default Has anyone fitted a 6 speed quick shift kit??

As the title suggests, has anyone on here fitted a Subaru Quickshift kit to their 6 speed Impreza??
If so what did you do with the old linkage assembly, I'm stuggling to find one but if you fit a Prodrive or Subaru quickshift kit then you must have pile of bits left over, and that pile of bits are exactly the parts I need........

I have a JDM sti and I fitted a B&m quickshift and got slated for it. I missed gears constantly with the new gearshift and two people I respected told me to get rid of it.

The 6-speeds are quite a short shift anyway. When I tried out a friend's car, after my own which was a classic with 5-speed, I constantly missed gears.

I'm going to have to take it steady when I get mine back rebuilt with it's 6-speed.

Not found anything that said they did fit a quick shift to the WR1, you need an original spec list i think....

This thread has started to go a little off topic, basically I've got a 6 speed box to go in a classic, but it didn't come with the linkage assembly, but I'm struggling to find a linkage assembly for sale anywhere.
But if you have fitted a quickshift kit, that kit replaces all the parts that I need so anyone with a quickshift will have all the bits I need to get the box in the car left in a pile at the back of their garage, so am looking for anyoine who has fitted one as they may be able to sell me all their normal gear shift linkage bits.

I've got one, and it's quite a shock....

It really is so short fore-to-aft, but the gate is the std. width. Feels a touch notchier than std., but changes the feel completely.

P.S. Jeff struggled with mine because I over-filled the gearbox with "Nano-tech" oil.... Opps !

Bodski / Dunx

What did you do with your standard gearshift-linkage assembly when you fitted your quickshifts?

I twigged you were "fishing",

But ours are replacement lever assemblies, not the whole linkage...

Sorry !

You will need to find a full linkage from somewhere as it's significantly different from a 5 speed one. You can buy the full STI linkage new for about £350.

Perhaps you can appreciate why people want good money for a complete 6 speed setup!

Zen
Yes, appreciate that, have got a six speed box quite cheap but it came without stub shafts or linkage.
So, yes am 'fishing' for a linkage assembly! The subaru quickshifts come comlete and you can get one new for £280+vat but that is a lot of money for a gear linkage.
But I was thinking that anyone who has fitted one of these must have all the bits I want left over....

I very much doubt you will find the linkage as after market quickshifts besides the the full STI linkage are just the stick, not the rest of the linkage. SO at best you might find someone with the "stick" and you can cut and shut a 5 speed linkage, buy a gearknob and make up the cable pull for reverse, but after all that I'll bet you wish you'd just spent the money.

Stubs, c clips and new seals will be required if it's a later box, just the shafts and clips if some moron breaker just pulled the shafts off leaving the stubs in the CV joints (there must be loads of these around the country!).
