Default New Engine Options and Opinions

Just wondering people opinions on the next stage for me. I think it will be new short block time really.

This is my current spec:
3inch stainless de-catted exhaust, inc up and down pipe (2.5inch centre)
HKS FPR
Walbro Fuel Pump
NGK PFR 7B Plugs
Hybrid FMIC with CAIK
750cc Flow Matched Injectors
AVCR Boost Controller
MD321T Turbo
RCM Headers
CDF Light Weight Pulley Set
ECUtek remap by JGM

I know I will also need a true 3" exhaust system, and probably a better ECU like the Solaris eventually. Also, a new clutch too.

I don't want to be spending something like £10k on a new block, as there is no way I can afford that.

For the time being, I think I would like to max the turbo out so hopefully 450/450, with having the option of perhaps putting a 321V or equivalent on in the future.

I use my car for everyday use, going to work etc, but would like to start doing a few drags and circuits. Not competing really though, as I couldn't afford to fix things when they break, lol.

I know Engine tuner do the 2.1 drive in, drive out for around £4500, but I think a 2.5 would suit me better, and my logic is a 2.5 has to get more power than a 2.1....surely?

Do you think a S-CDB 2.5L block, as these don't have liners do they, so cannot slip!? This would have forged pistons, racing type rods, ACL (or equivalent) bearings, 11mm APR head studs, new gaskets, cam belt, maybe baffled sump? Also, would I need a new fuel pump at this level? I would ask the builder to do the parallel fuel rail mod too.

I know there are the CDB option with liners, and the 2.35 route using a 2.2 block, but I think these are too expensive really for what I want out of my car.

Any opinions about what I've said? I am in contact with engine builders at the moment, but thought I would get other peoples views as well.

Thanks

As for the crank as well. Is the standard 2.5 ok for 'up to 500' or would I need a Nitrided one?

Running a standard crank in mine.

Aftermarket ecu and get a little more out of the T. Not worth the money in a new engine unless yours lets go for the sake of 50bhp IMO

My engine might have. I've had a problem recently and had to get the turbo rebuilt. But I don't know if there is low compression on one of the cylinders. If not I will run the engine more until it does die.

So do you think, if my engine is 100% ok, to get a new ECU now? And I would get more out of it?

Thanks for the reply and advice.

T should make more really.

Are you still using ecu to control boost ?

ECU may enable a finer tune level and better boost control or higher boost.

Im running the ECUtek and an Apexi AVCR at 1.6 Bar.

Suppose if the engine is OK now, I could get a Solaris now and it will be ready for when I eventually upgrade my engine perhaps.

If you are going to spend the money on a good ecu/built engine/future turbos etc then I would go further to make it a worthwhile investment... aim for over 500. The costs are very similar.
