Default what turbo is it?

Hi all,
i have owned this https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...rx-bugeye.html for about a month now.

i am considering a bigger turbo but i was wondering;
a) if anyone knows what turbo is fitted as standard?
b) if i would need to do anything else to the car before i fitted a td05 20g for example?

thanks

I think a 20g would be far to much for standard wrx transmission, but you have a td04 as stock, anything any bigger than stock, ie td05 16g or vf35 would require larger intercooler and injectors also a full exhaust upgrade and a remap. best you look into it a bit further.

Yeah as Daz said the 20G will probably kill the gearbox.

VF35 is a good upgrade to get above 300 but would need an STi TMIC, 550 injectors to do it.

What mods have you done so far? as with a good decat, panel filter and remap you would be looking at 280bhp ish.

the car has been remapped by andy forrestt 270 bhp running 1.3bar
with high/low boost setting
eibach pro street coilovers
front strut brace
whiteline rear arb 24mm ajustable
whiteline rear alloy droplinks
sti 8 spoiler
scoobyworld mudflaps
piaa wipers & headlight bulbs
forge intercooler y pipe kit
boost gauge
revolution sportscat & system
uprated fuel pump
ngk no7 sparkplugs
k&n panel filter
so with this spec I would need sti or equivelant intercooler and larger injectors and a new remap?

Yes you would need 550 injectors and STi TMIC to go with the new turbo. (and remap)

Your money is probably better spent on upgrading the brakes, but if your insistant of wanting more power (though if you cant stop there is not point really ) then a td05 16g or a vf series turbo (30, 34 or 35).
Your gearbox, clutch and engine are still the weakest parts of the car, and the most costly to repair/replace.

if you up the power too far the uprated clutch will transfer more stress to gearbox.. at least with standard clutch it will slip occasionally and absorb some of the stress.

aim for 330~340 ideally with standard box etc some have lasted well with more but lots don't.
