I switched over to the winter alloys a few weeks ago and am not sure how to store the summer ones.
I've read that you should store them on the tyre wall and stack them no more than 2 high, which is a pain for 18" wheels. I've also read that you should put them in a plastic bag and use a hoover to suck the air out before sealing it.
Does anyone have any sound advice?
Cheers, Rich.

They cope well enough on the car during the summer months don't they? If you want to be all **** about it then do the above. I wouldn't bother and would just stack them 4 high in the garage with a dust sheet over them. Or a tapaling if outside.

Sorry for posting and disappearing for a week!!
I read that when a tyre is on a car the flexing causing oils to work through the rubber. When a tyre is stored, those oils breakdown. It didn't say anything about the length of time in storage though.

In this climate I wouldn't worry if they are in the dark and it's cold....
Vacuum packing and UV protection are good, but how long is our winter anyway ?
IMHO
dunx
P.S. Mine are stacked with soft blankets between them to protect the Oz's....

The reason I swap them, is to avoid smacking my PPF's against a kerb on the ice. I'll find an empty corner of the garage to stack them.
Thanks for the info.

my 18"s are just stacked 4 high in the garage with some padding to protect the alloy faces ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
my 17" wrx wheels are my winter wheels, but still with summer tyres at the moment - only changed them back because of all the potholes and i don't want to break an 18" rim
