Default sti 6 fueling question

hi all

Ive taken the plunge an put a deposit on an sti6 wagon from SVA imports. Its due to arrive in the next 2 weeks or so and be ready an prepared for the end of february.

So the my old 98 uk classic wagons getting put out to pasture
(spanked a posh chap in his S2000 last week, life in the old girl yet - 289bhp on a VF34 with supporting mods if anyones interested)

Apart from the necessary work to make the STI legal in the uk id asked about whether itd need a remap to run on UK petrol? ( V power )

I was told itd be fine on V power and all thats required is that the ECU be reset.

Is this right? I thought Id need a remap at the very least.

Anyone confim this or am i just getting new car jitters

no mate,

get it to a decent mapper such as bob rawle, simon aka jgm or andy forrest

befor eyo ugo decat it, uprate the pannel filter and fit a walbro pump and you will end up at 320bhp ish and a very nice car to drive with better power delivery.

the sti 5 / 6 have very weak mafs and this can upset the fueling etc and lead to the engine going pop.

better to be safe then sorry and have it mapped in my opinion rather than having to spend 3k plus on a standard rebuild

Worth getting a ks3 fitted also
V power is normally ok on its own, if you have something to monitor the engine, but v power and octane booster is even better

Hi mate

My advice would be get it mapped for v-power straight away, my v6 type- r was fresh in this country the middle of last year and it now has a knackered engine due to the fueling being out, its now costing me 5grand to be fixed at api, wish id spent the money on a re-map in the 1st place, but on the bright side il have a brand new forged engine with more power. i was advised by some people that it would be ok, and some said it needed mapping, i chose to risk it and it cost me dearly.

you live and learn, id be getting it checked for piece of mind.

Thanks Tristan
