Default Just recieved my Sports Cat

heya,

Due to a problem with my cat I've brought myself a Ninja Sports Cat from Scoobyworld. Also the gasket things. It arrived so booked me car in for a service and to fit the cat.

The bloke asked if it had a certificate with it. I replied no and then he said they couldn't fit it. Its law now new regulations. So I thought great.

But after chatting he found out its for 2001 upwards. So I'm lucky as mines a STI V5 MY99.

So I guess this is all to tie in with the road tax.

Also they will need to trim my heatshield on my turbo.

I just get the impression that the government want us to buy newish cars as they have brought all these regs in to make it more expensive.

Can't see why there should be an issue fitting a sports cat, a decat yes, but you will still have a cat fitted which is the legal requirement.

Maybe the garage owner is just not aware that a sports cat is still a cat and a car can pass an MOT with one fitted

He just said it was new legalisation. But panic over, but I'm just thinking what about the newerage owners.

even if that does come out for garages, easy enough to fit yourself, also as long as emmissions ok on mot they can't fail it, there are loads of aftermarket cats for cars very rare do people have genuine cats fitted when they fail, I doubt that this would be practical to implement.

just found this, hope ppp cats are ok as they were fitted as std

another stealth change by our government, the motorist always suffers just lately, lets hope they move on before no one can afford a car.
