Sti - Import V's UK Dealer
#1
Hi, This is my first posting, so your help would be really appreciated.
I'm looking into buying a WRX Sti and my query is:
Whether Subaru dealers in the UK will still service a car that has been officialy imported from Europe?
If anybody has any thoughts on this I'd really like to hear about it.
Thanks for your time with this one.
Regards
Nick

If it's a UK spec STi from Europe they should service it. However the dealers I've dealt with fail to comprehend that the money they lost on selling me my car could be recouped in providing me with good customer service. It's not been back to the same dealer twice and as soon as the warranty is up, I'll be going specialist. Subaru dealers, BAG of SHTIE. Can’t wait until Block exemption is sorted out and then they’ll all be begging us Euro owners to visit their service departments.

Never had a problem with my euro import, the dealer is more than happy to service her
Once the car is on IM's books there is no turning back and they are obliged to service that car, ok they may not have sold you the car but they still make the money out of you servicing it

By law they have to service the car, however from experience (not with a Subaru) dealers will not provide any sort of good will. There are of course excepetions to the rule (listers in Worcester for one).
The problem with imports is the trade reluctance to accept as part ex. this of course is not a problem if you plan to keep the car for some time, where selling via autotrader and the like becomes easier.
