Default IN DASH DVD PLAYER INSTALL _ HELP!!!

Hi all,

Going to install a DVD player this weekend, but......

I believe the DVD player is rated at max 15A but I think the stereo fuse that the player runs off (the one in the little box in the drivers footwell) is only rated at 10A in my 06 STI?

What do I need to do?

Thx in advance

Take out the 10A fuse and replace it with a 15A fuse.

Or, alternatively: run a 15a fused hotwire from the battery positive terminal, avoiding the fire-risk.

15A???? thats seems way over. Normally you would see a max 5A so the standard 10A should be more than enough. A standard head light takes 5.8A so think of it that way, like 3 head lights on lol tomuch lol

The manual for the DVD player definitely says max 15A and I'm sure the stereo fuse is set at 10A.
Does 15A sound too much for a DVD player?

you just said it your self [B]max[B] meaning it can take an input up to 15a max not minimum, on the back of your new head unit should be a fuse, normally where you connect your harness, just see what that fuse is and either match it or go under its value by a bit

There is, its rated at 15A.
I take it that means the unit doesn't actually use 15A, just that if it gets a surge above 15A the fuse will blow to protect it?

Should I be OK with a 10A fuse in the fuse panel then?

Installed on Saturday. All sorted.

DVD player runs of the battery (fused of course).
Cable runs through the roundish bung that has other wires running through it (just to the right of the intercooler).

Works and looks a treat - pictures superb, Dolby surround sound in car!

Does anyone know for definite if it is illegal for the DVD player to be playing a movie whilst the car is moving? Obviously not for me to watch - for the wife and kids (stops them from moaning about the erm... tight fast bends)

Thx for all your help people.

I believe that if it's visible from the driver's seat, then you can't use it while driving.

Also, if you go at it on those tight bends while the family are glued to the DVD, they'll be spewing all over the car before you know it!
