Am 24 and have 6 years ncb, own a STI WR1 and insurance is through admiral fully comp £778.
I was £1100 for the same car when I was 21 and had three points.
Have you tried bell, elephante, tesco, swift cover etc?
Good luck!

I spent at least 12 hours between Saturday and today trying to get insurance (even had to miss work as I couldn't take the car through the ANPR on the motorway). At 43 with full no claims driving an 04 WRX you'd think it would be reasonably cheap, but from £439 last year my renewal came in at over 600 for comprehensive with protected ncb.
Tried all the big names, Direct Line pissed me off the most letting you fill out 3 pages of info before asking what tracker is fitted. If they're not gonna quote without one, why not point that out right at the start. To wind you up further you still get an email after you quit offering a policy at £400 based on the info given.
Filled out a quote request online on Sunday for Adrian Flux, came back at £400 as well. Phoned up this morning and they'd quoted a GX when I'd said it was a WRX. Priced jumped into the 600s.
Bell came out well through most of the comparison websites, but when I phoned they claimed I'd mis-represented my vehicle and according to DVLA it is in fact a 2003 STi so added £150 again taking the premium into the high 600s. I phoned DVLA and they agree it's a WRX and Bell are talking crap.
In the end I had to go back to Keith Michaels. Gary is really hard to get hold of - he doesn't seem to respond to voicemails or PM's, but once I got him he seemed okay. It appears he drives a Scooby too. Ended up paying £565 fully comp, protected ncb driving 18k per year (gotta get another car for work!) with Brembo brake upgrade declared, so all things considered like your age and the fact it's an STi I think your quote is damn good.
