which engine to tune
i posted up reviously about changing to a bug eye STI, of which i drove one and really liked, (but it defeinately needed some more midrange grunt)
it was so easy to drive quick with little effort reqd, something im not used to in a 280hp/330Ibft Fwd vRS.
will i be swapping for a scooby........most definately.
But.... the wife has added her little clause into the deal. its not going to be our main car because she will not drive it. so i should get about 13k for my car once its reverted to standard and all parts sold.
So im now also looking at WRX's and older models as well.
Engine mod wise, ill only be putting on an Air intake and a decat downpipe whilst retaining the cat back exhaust and a remap with possibility of the fuel pump if required, but not turbo swaps, although i would consider water methanol at a later stage(almost got it on my vRS but held back as noone had done it to the my engine spec so i didnt want to be the guinea pig)
So what are the Hp/torque possibilities on the various engines with the above mods ????
Classis impreza 2.0WRX (93-01) Std 214Hp/213Ibft
Classic impreza 2.0STI (93-01) Std 265HP/????Ibft
Bug eye Impreza 2.0 WRX (00-05) Std 215Hp/215Ibft
Bug eye impreza 2.0 STI (00-05) Std 261Hp/253Ibft
Blob eye impreza 2.5 WRX (05-07) Std 226Hp/236Ibft
Blob eye impreza 2.5 GB270 (05-07) Std 266Hp/310Ibft
Blob eye impreza 2.5 STI (05-07) Std 276Hp/289Ibft
Its not going to be my daily run around, but im after reliable power upwards of 270Hp/300Ibft, as it wil be used on weekends and trackdays. ill be concentrating alot on the handling, and would love to get into time attack days.
on a side note which models from above are available in the 'Wagon' shape. the wagon would suit my needs well.
Cheers guys
