Default Blob WRX brake options?

I am fed up with the performance of the standard stoppers! What is the most cost effective brake uprade?
I've done discs and pads so I guess I am looking at 'big' brake kits using the standard calipers or totally new calipers/discs. Yes, I would love to go for the biggest AP kit on the market but I am not sure a) I have the cash and b) that a 5 year old car is worth it!
By the way, no serious mods other than filter, exhaust and re-map (270 bhp).
What have you experienced and what do you suggest.
Thanks all.

Swap for Front Brembos, and Performance Friction discs and pads. Or go for K-Sports, I went for APs (330mm 4 pots) and they are amazing but K-Sport have a good reputation and are a lot cheaper.

You should be able to pick some Brembos cheaper than some of the above mentioned. Try talking to some of the big name Subaru specialists as they often have some when they upgrade the STI

I used the Godspeed front disc brake kit (335mm front discs and fittings to move the standard caliper out), braided hose and DS2500 pads all round and I find them pretty good with little, if any, fade on track days and no problems on the road.

STi Brembos are cost effective and a nice upgrade.

Have got a used set here which I can supply with a choice of discs/pads.

STi Brembos with good set aftermarket rotors (The DBA4000 series are very nice,) pads, and some stainless steel lines will probably be the most cost effective solution.

Yes the STi brembo's would be a good option from what you have , but if your running the standard WRX wheels , they don't fit under them , so cost in changing them to wheels that will fit.

You can start by fitting better discs and pads which will make an improvement over standard items , we can also supply you a 335mm kit with 2 piece discs and bells , mounting bracket and fitting kit , and larger than standard pads of various compounds to fit with your standard WRX 4 pot calipers , and will fit under your standard 17" wheels , this kit will perform as good as the 330mm kit we supply with the AP 4 pot calipers , but at a much lower cost , the 335mm kit complete is on offer at £575

Cheers Ian

The sti brembos are a good upgrade with decent pads such as DS2500. Looks like you have wheels to clear them. Don't skimp on disks though. I bought cheap disks once I had worn out the brembo originals and they don't function as well even with good pads. Braided hoses greatly improve pedal feel.
