The main reason im thinking about it,is the wifes car is sh*t and wont get through the next M.O.T and we cant really afford to go out and buy her another. And my car sits at the side of the house all week not getting used while she uses hers everyday,so i thought about getting rid of both and buying one nice family car.

so get it fixed so it will pass the MOT. Will be alot cheaper than selling it n your scoob as well for a newish car anyway. You know it makes sense and I would miss the banter, affection n respect you show me

Being honest its the last thing i want, the car is my life,i know this sounds sad,but its true. Anyone who knows me knows how much i love my car,and if i did sell it i'd probably cry

As for the wife's car,its needs more than its worth spending on it.

Well put her on the insurance if the car is sat there all week not being used so why not make the most of what you have if you can't afford to fix it.

Also mate not sure how much you have to spend but you can get a tidy motor for next to nothing £600 odd will get a run about. Might not be able to justify fixing a car that is worthless but with the money it will cost to fix on top of the possible sale of your current car as spares or repairs you might have enough for a cheap run about

What car has she got mate? Most scrap yards will pay few hundred quid for a car you can drive in. Loads of cheap cars about with tax and test if you look around. Dont sell the scoob, especially if you like it that much.

Well sorry to say this mate if money is tight and you are having to think of selling the car you hav always wanted and love to bits to bits and you are willing to sell it then surely she can put up with a fiesta until there is more spare cash

if you do sell make sure you buy a cheaper impreza be it a bugeye or classic sti with some choice mods you know it makes sense

sounds to me like she would rather walk seriously though, as others have said just get her a runaround. i used to have a mate that would buy cars for next to nothing , always small, and cheap to insure. he would make sure they would have a years tax and mot. then run it into ground and buy another whilst advertising the dead one as a donor car for spares , usually recovering the costs for the previous year. granted he was a mingebag, but 4 years later he went and paid cash for one that was 6 months old from a dealer. he got a great deal but always said he missed the buzz of free motoring
