Someone trying to make a fast buck - White WRX
So i was gonna get a wagon, but i'm a sucker for the white classics. I'd love an RA, but i don't think my budget stretches.
So i find this WRX, nice mods, lovely bodywork and reasonably priced.
95 WRX £2100:
1995 SUBARU IMPREZA Turbo 2000 4WD 4dr Saloon
Call it up....."Sorry it's sold".
Damn, OK, continue the search. Then check on ebay and see the same car listed for £3495 ONO:
Subaru Impreza WRX Modified 310BHP, Mint Condition on eBay (end time 05-Apr-10 03:02:45 BST)
Some fanny is trying to make some money out of this. Now it's massively over priced.

I agree with you.......when you see them that nice and that cheap, be very quick! Much to cheap at £2100, it's clearley been loved

too many people using ebay as a price guild you will have seen some cars going cheap with plenty of people needing a quick quid but true value of these classics in mint condition is 3k and over

Im with Gaz, thats stupidly overpriced and his "estimate" for putting it up to 1.1 bar is 310bhp
For those thinking thats a good price, do some research, for an extra 1k your getting a similar mileage STI which is 4 years newer.

its all good saying fro an extra XXXX you could get this n that but most wont have that extra xxxx so cant get the better model etc, if you have 3k you have 3k not 4 or 4.5k

I also think its over priced, Sold my V3 sti ra 5 months ago for only a grand dearer than that car. Was twice the car, twice as clean and 5 times the spec of that WRX.
Whilst looking on pistonheads earlier i saw a V3 STI in black(looked nice) for £2700....
Im now looking for another Scoob and there's no way id pay 3k plus for a 1995 WRX no matter what the condition...but each to their own, some newbie will part with the cash.
.....WTF!.lol

Type RA white mudflaps(very rare)

I hear what you're saying Rig, but for the same money £3500. There's nice STi's. Even proper RA's, not just WRXs with stickers.
(* i also noticed the mudflaps But i had to be picky cause everywhere else was so nice)

Agreed, a 95 WRX for £3500...no way! I paid that 15 months ago for my pretty tidy Mica Blue 1999 turbo 2000.
But a similar story, a lad from work who was pretty naive went to Liverpool to buy a P1, about a year ago now, for £6500. A load of us said it was too cheap....a guy on here who I told the story to did some searching and found it had been sold a week earlier on ebay for £4000, with engine problems. These engine problems weren't stated in the advert my work mate saw, so he buys it..anyway, a couple weeks later it's over-heating like buggery, new engine needed. That was just the start, f***ed ECU and diff not long afterwards.

Horses for courses......you pay for what you get. Let's face it, there's a lot of over priced s*** out there. You can spend more putting it write if you got a crap an, so if something like the Scooby in question is a good an.....pay a little more for it, better in the long run.
At £2k there is defo a little profit in it, all be it a small one! Full credit to the second advert.

Hmmm its difficult to comment on the price. What i will say is that i think the rule book goes out of the window with classics to a certain extent. I, and many others will pay a fair chunk more for an unabused, clean, straight example without all the stupid mods stuck to them.
I accept that there will be many, more likely the younger guys who have to budget for ridiculous insurance etc that would look for the cheapest classic with the most power. BUT there will be others where insurance and general cash availability that would pay more for straighter cars. Plus you have got to look at a long term ownership plan and consider costs like tyres, cambelt, has it been mapped correctly,,, you know the usual stuff that can quickly weigh you in for another few grand before you get it to where you want.
my point - its hard to say that the car in question is overpriced by saying you can get this and that for 2 grand more as the ones you can get may not be as straight ie a poor example of a newer model.
Would i buy it? no i would want it standard and not an RA rip off but i just get razzed when unfair comparisons are made with price. I think the price for good classics WRX or STI will gradually creep up. So many are being broken up, thrashed to death or are just generally in utterly ****e condition that genuine examples will be really scarce and demand will inflate the prices.
there you go, my 2p for what its worth
