I bought my '05 STI last year with the double din 'cassette' player

I am young myself and cannot think of the last time I rewound my last cassette! That was one of the first things to go!

Luckily I had an all singing, all dancing Pioneer head unit in my last motor and swapped them over. I bought a single din 'pocket' from www.scoobyparts.com to fill in the gap

Hi yeah the plastic round the outside with the heater controls is held on by clips you just pull it forward then the stereo is held in by screwsyou can buy a pocket that fits underneath if you want convert it to a single din unit its worth a crack at

there fairly easy all you do is unclip the gear surrounds undo the two screws at the bottom of the centre trim and that just unclips the but be carefull with the top two clip on the trim now once that is removed you can get to the screws that hold the radio in and hey presto but be carefull the sat nav systems on ebay dont fit and you need to chop away at the centre console trim but it is worth it in the end

To be honest i only used the stereo for my daughter in the nearly 5 years of ownership. I loved listening to the car too much. Mind....it did make sweet music (aka bangs).

I came from a Nissan S15 to my STI. The power was about the same but you just can't beat the distinctive subaru 'rumble'! Love it
