Default Track day crash helmets

Can I use a scooter helmet (open face) or do I need a "proper" car one? Scooter ones look albeit not sure if they can legally be used?

Cheers, TX.

My helmet was only £90. BSI approved. Never had a problem with any tracks

As far as Im aware no TDOs have been foolish enough to require 'car' helmets this year. Why after all? What benefit is a fireproof lining when you can be driving in tracksuit bottoms and a football shirt?

A BS6658-A helmet will be more than good enough.

Just a bump for this thread.

I am going to buy myself a crash helmet for future track days for 2011.

What level does a track helmet have to have for you to wear? What grade etc?

Can you wear open face or does it have to have a lid?

Looking at a new one by Bell but not sure if I can get away with even though it states it is FIA Approved.

Cheers
Steve

An open face helmet in an enclosed car will be fine.

A helmet that is FIA approved will also be ok.
