Default a word of warning on zage 18G turbos

simple ...... avoid

They are cheap for a reason.

Plenty of good new 18G's if you are looking for 360 ish bhp ... Harvey / Andy F and others have good ones in stock I believe that do exactly what they say on the tin.

HTH.

A very handy smoke screen though with the oil out the back !!

Seriously people they do not produce the power nor last more than a week even at low boost.

Beyond 7 days and it needs to be taken off the car to replace with a proper turbo. 7 days is pushing it even.

I don't sell 18g turbos.

I advised my customer to buy a geniune 18g - they didn't andit lasted 250 tops.

why would you question a very well known and reputable mapper when giving advise on some of us maybe losing money ? i think scooby netters would see through a sales pitch if they saw one.

you get what you pay for in todays world listen to the pro's who use the best, alright its a bit dearer to begin with but why do you think they do this.. quality and reliability maybe? after all if you buy something at half the price then it will last half the time and do double the damage when it fails and cost more in the long run. i allways recommend quality and originality as a must dont buy cheap **** it wont last.

Cheers guys. I hadnt seen much discussion on here about them so I thought it should be made common knowledge. I can't post pics of it I am afraid as it is not my turbo nor my car to share pics of - suffice to say it wasnt pretty.

For £450 the Zage 18G turbos seem good value but are best avoided in my opinion cos you will be sorely disappointed with the performance even if it doesn't poop itself within 7 days.

Far better turbo options available from those that sell turbos ... Harvey, Andy F, Lateral Performance, Scoobyclinic, Engine Tuner ....

I think it’s fair to say most if not all the cheap variants from eBay and the Far East barn yard factorys nearly always fail in the first 1000 miles in my experience, or if they do make it beyond this point which is rare, they never perform as they should.

When you factor in the cost of the Turbo + Fitting + Removal + cleaning out all the crap left behind by the duff turbo then purchasing and refitting a genuine unit, and finally a map tweak it’s a no brainier imo, buying cheap turbo’s like other parts always costs you more in the long run.

Did they eventually get them back for repair, under guarantee?

I've had experience of chinese made model aero engines, many being replica's of 1950's/60's British classics. Look really well made and well finished. Unfortunatly, the materials used for the important internal bits were of poor quality, resulting in a short life.

Default Zage turbo

Hi guys, Listen to duncan.
I bought one of these, fitted it and had it mapped safely by duncan and it lasted 250 miles. It spewed oil all through the fmic and out through the dv and into the engine.
Ime still getting a puff of blue smoke in the morning.
So never ever buy a zage turbo, they will cost you more money in the long run.
Role on the real 18g, just hope i get my money back from the place i got the zage from.

Cheers guys
