Default Advice on a motor traders policy please

Ive been in the motor trade for 9 years. Due to me being daft last august im only insured on the traders policy in work hours. Im paying 700 pound fully comp on a megane coupe and yes that is expensive i know. But ive got no no claims bonus. Ive had a quote of £950 for me to have a traders policy letting me drive anything and own anything upto £7500. To me it seems like a good option especially as i want to own another impreza and i will be selling a couple of cars here and there.. Anyone offer any advice on pro's and con's of getting one as i dont know that much about them.

Read the small print. This is a quote taken from one brokers proposal form. Note the modified cars comment and the high performance vehicle comment

Please note that if the policy is in the name of a company then directors' and their spouse's vehicles would NOT be covered for pleasure use. Vehicles owned by additional drivers or hired/leased for less than 12 months would NOT be covered for pleasure use. The policy does not cover driving other vehicles for pleasure. The policy does NOT cover caravanettes/ bikes/ quad bikes/ trikes for pleasure. (It covers bikes/trikes/quad bikes used for business purposes for TPO. It does not cover for social, domestic or pleasure: American vehicles (unless manufactured for use in the UK market), multi-seat (8+) vehicles, vehicles manufactured prior to 1 Jan 1980, modified vehicles to improve performance or fibreglass vehicles.

The policy is to provide cover for Motor Traders to carry out their business (mainly buying and selling vehicles). Insurers may decline risks where the main use is to insure personal (especially high performance) vehicles - they may ask that such vehicle be insured separately - we are only too pleased to provide quotes for high performance, classic, kit cars on request. (If you are in the motor trade but don't buy/sell vehicles then look here)

I knew a lad who had such a policy and a Scoob, he was forever getting pulled for no insurance, it was too much hassle in the end.

Talk to a broker who specialises in Motor Trade policies - and tell them the whole story.

I've used http://www.tradesure-quote.co.uk/ for over 20 years and they've been fantastic, especially when I've had to make a claim.
