Default reving issue

got abit of an issue with my car reving up when changing gear, put my foot down to anything over 5k revs and when i change gear it revs up, this is also causing my forge bov not to dump the air its staying closed.

the rev issue was doing it before i fitted the bov so its not being caused by that.

any ideas?

Throttle cable stiff/ sticky butterfly? Had the hose off between the intercooler and throttle yet? Might be gunked up (not sure if these bug engines suffer breathing issues as older ones do- i hope not as i have the same engine as you!)
Might just be a case of cleaning.

The big hose that links the intercooler to the throttle (much bigger than a normal hose) it's the size of a drain pipe if you know what i mean?
Find me a pic and i can point it out to you mate.

Not too bad mate, if you fitted all of your million backboxes you'll be more than capable. Just pop the 2 12mm bolts off and move it back a touch. (being carefull)

Hope this works.
You see where it says sti on the intercooler?? Directly below it you'll see a big blue hose, thats the link hose between the throttle body and the intercooler. Once you've got that hose off, look inside the throttle and you should see the butterfly.
Using your left hand- pull the linkage on the throttle to open the butterfly and see if there is any sticky oil residue/carbon build up on the points where the butterfly sits flush with the housing.

The pipes you see running in front of the ic are just push on mate, they are for breathing. Trust me it's not hard at all. Just be nice and gentle, you only need to move the ic back like 5mm.

right, intercooler hose is was clean, butterfly was clean and free moving. the throttle cable seems a bit slack where it joins to the throttle body..is that how it should be.

(what a t*at that hose is to get back on, my fingers are in bits

Bit of soapy water is a blessing in those cases! The cable should have a slight amount of slackness to it yes. hmm, nothing silly like the pedal is being fouled by something in the cabin perhaps??

No, no, no, wasn't having a dig mate, just tongue in cheek thats all.
The only other things i can think of might be a leaky injector staying open once you lift off, causing car to rev a little.
Or a throttle sensor fault. Needs proper diagnosis me thinks.

I've found that the best thing to do is let off the throttle completely, the DV obviously goes off, and then change gear.
