not cheap on a classic, i did 400 and it cost me about 3.5/4 k, although i did future-proof it a bit.......

forged engine (pistons/rods, bearings, gaskets, machining, pumps, hoses, belts etc etc)
fmic
tdo5 20g
750cc injectors
clutch/flywheel
simtec ecu

then you need brakes and suspension, the torque will kill your gearbox too..............

For 400bhp on a classic your looking at 10k ish including supporting mods or sell and buy an 8k new age STI and spend 3k on it.

just over 2k for an ej257 see lateral performance
£300 FMIC
simtec £? see jollygreenmonster.o.uk
£800 td05 20g see andyforest
gearbox £400 6speed 2k-2.5k
550cc injectors price??
can be done for less than 10k but still very close

but then you will be looking to do brakes and coiloves etc to make it a complete unit

im in the proses of up grading mine had enough of 340bhp so im aiming for 500-550 bhp for now
cost so far is
rods pistons crack and alc bearing £1440
second hand heads with +1mm superteck valves 272 cams portd and polished with vernier pulls £1000
cosworth oil pump £100 brand new best find yet
cosworth cam belt £125
044 fuel pump swirl pot 740 injectors and rotated sti manifold £500
cdb £140
then theres still stuff like head gaskets clutch water pump turbo head studs ecu gearbox
then you have to make it stop so thats another grand then it needs better handling so add anouther grand youl soon hit 10000k plus but it will be worth it as i just carnt live without a classic scooby

I can tell you now that 1440 quid wont get you rods & pistons (though the crank and bearings should be ok if you have gone for the twin scroll nitrided one )
Your rods/pistons need to be a little more expensive (you will know about that ) but 450bhp all day on the ones you have (think the cosworth ones are very expensive )

For a car in the 380 bhp bracket 380 bhp M/Y 93 assuming engine is in good condition.
Fuel pump fitted. You already have.
3" open neck D/P with suitable exhaust system you already have. Heat wrapped?
Ported headers and matched uppipe DEI wrapped. Exchange.
Hybrid GT FMIC. Fitted
HS TD05 20G turbo.
New injectors.
Minor brake mod.
Fit turbo, fit headers. Fit injectors.
New Simtek, fitted and mapped.
Total = around £3,350 inclusive of VAT.
Add £230 for a proper air intake system. Recommended.
You can sell your existing turbo or I will give you an allowance against it and you will get something for your existing filtration system but not much.
Bring car on a Monday or Tuesday and drive away on the following weekend after mapping.

This assumes existing FPR is OK.
Turbo will break gearbox at some time in the future.
Existing exhaust/DP is up to the job.

Wont he make over 400 with one of your 20G's Harvey or is it only the forged builds that get pushed that far

I have seen the same ones advertised for good for 500bhp but if you think they are good for those figures, go for it

as harvey was saying 350-380 is much more achievable. 350 to play it safe safe with a standard 2.0 block
and the best part is, if your not happy with the 350 add the block 2.1 or 2.5 the following year that way the wallet stays happy and if 350 is gd for you money saved will obvi loose out on remapping money

You do realise at tha power level your gonna smash your gearbox and put your engine on its limits so you will have to budget in for that. When I had a 20g turbo mapped at 1.5bar it smashed my gearbox in a week
