Question DEFI's, which ones to buy & Where???!!!

Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a set of gauges for my Classic Impreza.

I had a set of Swoosh gauges in my old car and they were as accurate as a meter stick a mile long.

I'd like the dash lights to all match up so I'm not keen on the red classic versions, but I don't know who DEFI do a light that matches up with the green classic glow.

Yes I know I can change the other lights, but I wanted to look into the area first.

Also, where on earth is the best place to get them from?! SOOooo many on eBay are DEFI style and other fakes and when I've called in a motor store they buffle me with take of daisy chain and non-daisy chain varities, 52mm and 60mm and other things.

I want the daisy chain for easy, but equally I want a 52mm gauge so they don't take over the dash like the bigger 60mm ones do. IMHO. But I've been told I can't have one without the other.

Also, I've been told that DEFI do a 52mm gauge with a colour change feature so I could match it up perfectly to the stock lights. Buth then someone else told me these are fakes as its a feature DEFI don't do.

So confused!!! Can anyone provide some assitance.

What year car is it? As defi used to do a white faced gauge that lit up green to match the dash on the MY99/00 cars.

Mines a 2000. Any idea where I can get hold of them? That would be ideal, I've got white dials already so that would match in perfectly.

Yeah just had a look, there the puppys I'm after. Just need to find them now. I'm after a oil temp and oil pressure gauge. The third one, possibly boost maybe exhaust temp not sure yet.

I'm get an Apexi AVC-r so don't see the need for the boost gauge. People tell me exhaust temp is very import thing to monitor.

Yeah, I had a look at these. But I'm not so keen on the gauges being in one rectangle block. I prefer them to be separate gauges. I'm gonna get a different pod so. THe one with the three shallow reverse scallops on top. Although I do like have the above pod matches the dash finish perfectly, with the wrinkles and orange peel effect.

The zero sports pod is the best fit in that case. You can get an Sti version ov those gauges from japanparts but they are mega money.

It's all down to personal preference.

eBay or on here, unless you want to buy new, then japan or the US but they will be big money, if you can get hold of them. The link gauges were discontinued a while back & replaced with the BF range.

Not a chance of getting a set new mate, from retail anyway. I phoned tonnes of companies in Japan and America to try and get some to complete my set.

Best bet is to go for second hand. Worth waiting for a set to come up, they match the OE dials the best.

Defis it is: they certainly DID do white faced, green illuminated gauges with the features you want, including daisy chain fitting, in both 52 and 60 mm.

Both are now obsolete

However, Nito, on here, has some stocks, and may be able to help you. Drop him a PM or mail, and ask. I've just (October last year) bought two more 52 mm ones off him, fuel pressure and water temp, to match my o/t, o/p, and boost. Decent price too.

Boost would be my choice for a third gauge.

Don't be put off if not all are available in 52mm: had you thought of a 60mm boost, for example, flanked by 52 mm o/t and o/p? Not all your clocks are the same size

Good point on the sizing. My=60mm on the dash & 52mm on the pillar.
