WR1 or Mk1 Type25?
Hello
I am considering a purchase of a scoobie even though my first one died when it threw a pison
Still on we go
I think I have narrowed down my choices to maybe a wr1 or a type25 mk1 but which to go for??
I am trying to figure which is best overall in terms of speed reliability etc
Thanks

I own a wr1, this is the best car i have owned. I cannot say how good the type 25 is but either car would be very good over other subaru's. In my opinion! Good look with your search.

Thank you all for your opinions, I have found an 04 type 25 for sale in black and am considering purchasing tomorrow though would prefer an 05 one with the wider track. I guess that would mean waiting until I can find one and i'm not the most patient of people
A mate has just suggested a monaro 5.7 V8! but i think my heart is set on the scoobie theres jus somethin about em that u gotta love.

IMHO WR1 blue is an awful colour + it's just a tarted up STi T25 all the way for me (huge list of spec changes) albeit stevie1982 didn't take a shine to his send him a PM.
TX.
Edit - I actually prefer the T20 as it's based on the jap 2 litre engine. Hard to find em though.

Thanks Terminator so you think the t20 is better than the t25?
You think the car you have sent a link for is nice by any chance? lol
It's a bit more money than the one i was gonna go buy tomorrow which is up for £12995.
Is stretching the budget up to £17500 worth it for that car??

Hmmmm Terminator you have now put another consideration in my head that I didnt know I had.
Help is required to make up my mind as I'm supposed to be being picked up at half seven in the morning to go up and look at and probably buy a t25.
Is Callums T20 a better buy?? Is it as fast ?

AFAIK T20 is 2.0l and T25 is 2.5l, can anyone confirm this
I also agree with TX on the WR1.

Tough choice The older T25 is circa 350bhp isn't it with newer one 415 ish? The T20 above is 360 so is similar power wise to standard albeit older T25. Older car vs newer car is also a tough call If you can find £4k (no doubt T20 owner will drop £500) then I'd say go for it as this particular T20 is also a Spec C
T25 link FYI - http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/...25-AWD/206868/
TX.
Edit - T25 is 2.5 litre with T20 being jap spec 2 litre.

Ok not to sure how to put this but if you are going to go for a t20 I would opt for a spec c with an uprated fuel pump, pannel filter a decat and remap which most will already have, then have a set of ast coilovers fitted (if coilovers were not already on) then in all fairness you have a t20 minus the badge and probably a good few grand cheaper. Just depends if you really want a build number. The t25 is different all together as the twin scroll set up On a 2.5 is something special unless you bought a uk car and fitted a twin scroll set up to it

You aware that the Spec C is arguably the best of the best when it comes to scoobs? The older T25 is based on a normal STI whilst that T20 is a Spec C as a base car - lighter, quicker, better toys, wider track etc etc.
I used to own a Spec C so know a fair bit about em. In actual fact I wanted a T20 but couldn't find one so bought a Spec C instead!

Sorry tx I meant the t20 in question was based on a spec c and at that point it would be worth considering just getting a spec c with tasteful mods and banking he cash as effectivly they are the same thing minus the build number. the t25 is based on a 2.5ltr lump which never came as a twin scroll option as it was fitted to the uk cars where the jap stuck with the 2.0ltr but Litchfield fitted the 2.5 engne along with the twinscroll setup and calledit the t25.
Also the t20 and t25 where avalible as a standard sti, spec c or the later hawkeye also were avalible a an A-line spec, depending on what trim level you wanted Litchfield would import the model you were after the set it up or fit a 2.5 lump and set it up.
My point is f you want a 2.0 i would not be too fussed about a t20 unless you wanted the build number, for me it was about the t25 as it had the larger 2.5 lump matted to a twin scroll setup
For me it would be the t25 over a t20 or buy a hawkeye spec c over the t20
Hope some of that makes sense

OK get your point, a nice well modded Spec C can be found here (MY05 version so has wider track):
http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1546664.htm
It's a bit banzai though as a first car
TX.
Edit - for me the jap spec 2.0 engine is "better" than the US sourced 2.5 hence my preference for a 2 over a 2.5 even though the T25 is obviously an awesome machine.

Hmm a nice car indeed!! And fits the bill for the speed element but im not keen on the stripped out look with the bucket/harness seats.
Love the colour though

Mate don't be put off by a set f bucket seats and harness I am sure the seller still has the orginal belts and seat and if not the seat come up for sale all the time on here and places such as eBay or japparts.
You got the link the the t25?
