Although much has been written about a limited edition WRX does anyone know when it is due to come on sale.

Dealer told me a few weeks ago that for every one of these cars that they take from Subaru UK they will also have to take the same amount of P1's.

Seems like a good way for Subaru UK to get rid of unsold p1'S. Also comfirms(if true)how many P1's are left unsold.

Cheers

Chip.

The limited edition should be on sale end April early May.

Numbers should be limited to around 300.

The dealer link to the P1 is that dealers that sold the most P1's will get a larger allocation of limited editions. It cant be 1 for 1 else ultimatley 1000 would be made.
(although not all 1000 are sold yet). Seems fair to me that dealers that made an effort on the hard sell get a few more easy sells.

Chip,Chins

Is what you are saying about the allocation of new WRX Special Editions hearsay or fact? In regards to how many each dealer will get and that the dealer must also take a P1 ?
Does that mean that because my dealer may not have sold any P1's then he will not be able to honour my order ???
If anyone has any details about this please let me know..

Terry

The dealers have been told that they will receive a larger number if they shifted P1's. However I cant see any dealer not getting any. In the past some dealers have only had 1 or 2 anyway. If your top of your dealers list you should be ok. Your always safer being in the top 10 of a largish dealer such as Lister, Lancaster, Cheam, Adams etc. When I bought a Terzo Lancaster Pangbourne has 12 off. There were 333 of them. You will also fing that Listers and Lancaster are the dealers that always seem to get the first cars. P1 wise Lancaster and Listers probably had had 5-6 cars before some dealers got 1.

Dealer told me that 300 will be available. This being the number of P1's also left to sell. Subaru Uk must be getting desperate now if they have got this amount left after about a year of being on sale.

They are obviously also the old shape model and I am sure they would rather be selling the new model.

As for p1's not being very popular, I dont think that is the case. Myself I would love to own one but just cant afford the asking price, running costs etc of such a car. Perhaps a lot of other people feel the same . Who knows.

The number of limited editions a dealer will get will be on the overall total, not whats left.

The P1's they just made too many of a £31k car. Mitsubishi has the same problem with the EVO VI.

Think Barratts have sold a few P1's anyway and a pretty large - as Subaru dealers go.

ChristianR,
As far as I can deduce from my dealer ,sites on the net and this BBS is that it will be based upon a replica of the MY01 Rally Car. No pics as yet

Terry

Jonathan,
Overall total of what? If its the total of P1's made then that would be 1000 WRX's.Not very limited.
If its the total of P1's left then 300 sounds about right. All I'm saying is what my dealer said he was told by Subaru UK, which was that Yes if they sold more P1's than other dealers they would get more WRX's but would also have to take a P1 with each limited edition that they wanted.

Cheers

I'm definitely as guilty as the next man about UK ltd edition fever (Catalunya and a 22B). But to be honest I doubt this will be oversubscribed. Even if it is, the good news is that just about simultaneously with the launch of the ltd edition the WRC ape-ing headlight conversion will be available as a dealer fit option for all WRX's. Nice! Then you just buy ure wheels and get a PPP and you are sorted.
The diffebetween this and the RB5( and Catalunya )is that the colour of the LTD edition will not be exclusive to the MY - so you can create the same car by adding PPP a wing and some wheels to your std sonic blue WRX - weird
(Unless like me you still think the car is ugly)

Back to the rumor factory. or should that be the 2001 marketing campaign.

Info I had earlier this year was only dealers who had sold a P1, after the incentive package had been discontinued, would be allowed to place orders for the 300 limited editions.

Final spec was still to be defined but they would include a body kit and be the only sonic blue 4 doors available in the UK.

Guess we will have to wait and see.

Maybe the dealers are confused as well. Dont see my dealer rushing to sell P1's, but seems happy they will get a lot of limited editions.

Chuckster

I'm not sure if your right. You do have a very valid point that with the RB5 it was a new colour (apart from imports). Your also right that you can add the bits to any WRX at a later date inc WR Blue.

There is the fact that the limited edition is the first 4 door to get buckets. Thats one of the reasons I'm holding out. I also dont think I'm the only one. The main thing will be pricing. My ex

Basic Car 21750 inc Met
Alcantara 400 !!
Lights 500
Rear Spoiler 500
Colour Coded 300
Gold 17" 100 (just get your std
wheel sprayed)

Put that lot together and you have £23,550.

To add value this should really sell for £22,500. Even then you could do the same yourself for approx the same, except the seats. Most people should get £1000 off a std model.

Now have the WR package

PPP £2000
18" wheeels exch £1000

So by my reckoning £22,500 std, £25,500 WR.

Gut feel is that I will be £1000 out. If so you could build your own for the same.

Not sure how I forgot the headlights & bumper. Add £500 to my price.

Are you sure its BBS 18" as std. Means there will be a lot of 17" wheels for sale ?

WRX Special Edition allocation will not be dependent on the amount of P1's left, or based on previous P1 sales. In fact, it will just depend on how big the dealer is, and how many new Subaru's they sold in 2000. Incidentally, expect the real number to be nearer 260-270 after allocation of Irish cars. Spec looks to be fairly close on previous thread.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I think sometimes the dealers are told a few porkies to put people off the scent. I dont know why but different dealers seem to be told different things. Strange. Anyway My names down.

Question

Has anyone actually put a deposit down on the car yet? If so how much and can you get the deposit back if your not happy. Remember no one has actually seen the car, full spec or price yet.
