In the case of the mitsubishi it would be DEvolution. The IX not only finished ahead of both X's, it lapped quicker too. It was second on a fastest lap basis.

 

everyone of these tests based in japan the sti s win so i was not surprised at all

 

I imagine that since this is in Japan these are not MR FQ3xx evo's so only have 270-285bhp.
Doesn't the JDM sti have 304bhp?
The UK Sti lapped the top gear track in exactly the same time as the Evo FQ300 and although that was the 2.5, the JDM 2.0 has roughly the same power+torque so... its not beyond the bounds of probability but the margin suggests driver/tyre combo or something else probably had an impact. (or it was fixed!)

 

thought uk sti was 265hp

 

300ps according to subaru.co.uk which is around 295.
Anyhow I remember Clarkson slagging off the sti versus the evo x and was surprised they lapped the same (the torque from the 2.5 probably had a fair bit to do with it).
