Snowing in Bedford at the moment (30 miles from Cambridge), but looks like it might clear soon. Forcast is for snow on Sunday here as well.

Rob

Light snow in Cambridge with patchy sunshine. It isn't settling.
I'd take the Civic and fill up with screenwash. The A14 is covered in nasty salt.
Keep the scoob tucked up.

Have a fun drive.

Sorry it's nearly home time

Angry

Well the BBC weather team are ****E its official.

We didnt go this weekend due to most of the east of england having heavy snow in Sunday. As per BBC website and Teletext.

What a load of bollocks. Was there actually a single flake fall anywhere!?

So they should just admit they have no ****ing clue and stop wasting our time trying to tell us that they are so smart and they know whats going to happen.

I mean why offer a 5 day forecast when you cant get it remotely right 2 days in advance, *****.

And as for the 60% likely to rain and all that ****e I mean I could sit here and make that up as well.

Unhappy

Robski,

I'm sorry you feel that way about the forecasts. I work for the Met Office and as a meteorologist myself I mostly refuse to watch the TV forecasts as I'm likely to kick the telly through the window because they are so poor.

In this day and age, it seems you need to pay to get a decent forecast and the Met Ofice have lots of options if you want to go that way.

As for the BBC team, well they are all skilled meteorologists and most would love to put on a decent forecast with regular updates as the situations change. However, commercial pressures within that sector mean they just do not have the time to sit down and analyse the situation properly before giving their forecast.

In the old days this was all they did. They would run a full time forecast centre and would be able to keep an eye on events for *just* the UK. They could then stand up and present a forecast they were 100% confident in.

Nowadays ? Well they could do the same, if only they had the time. They now spend most of their time presenting forecasts for other TV stations around the world and also do the News24 etc. They just do not have the time to watch the UK weather for enough time to actually create a decent forecast.

Sad state of affairs, but as usual, it is all money related.

Cheers

Ian
