Default Who went from 330 to 380+ on a newage?

I'm considering the next power step, just wondered if those who have done that could share their experience.

I love the way the car drives right now, just want more of the same.

Been in touch with Enginetuner, suggests MD555 + Tubular Manifold and induction kit to get near 400.

Love hear from those with similar kit, was the move worth it over the 330 ish HP state of tune.

05 STi by the way.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Sounds a bit simplistic, to me.
My route, via Zen, was MD321H, ported exhaust manifold (I try to resist saying 'headers') 3" Milltek system, Hyperflow Cold air induction, 650 cc injectors and although not strictly nesessary, AVC-R boost controller and return to sump oil catch can system, plus of course, the re-map. That lot did not come cheap!
In terms of driveability, you may find the turbo spools a little later so you may need to adjust your driving style and be aware of this when overtaking in a high gear.
If you love the way it drives, as it is, don't touch it!

Yes, you are right, forgot the injectors, 650cc are suggested.

Car already has Milltek 3" system as part of the bits to take it to 330, other than that, remap and filter (Powerstation). Originally had PPP so fuel pump should be ok, but id get it checked.

340 bhp with Hyperflow "Monster" FMIC & TSL exhaust system with sports cat. Performance Friction front discs and pads. Whiteline ARB's + ALK + STI trailing arms.
+
MD321H
Lateral headers
APS 3" de-cat system
Fuelab regulator + parallel feed conversion.
Hyperflow oil cooler kit

392 bhp

Just hard to get good mpg now....

P.S. The o.e. clutch gave up at 360 ft.lb.s.... and the 7 year old suspension was tired and replaced with Teins.

I went from around 330 on the standard turbo to around 370/380 with as said above 650 injectors/ stainless manifold/headers(lateral) and a td05/18

Great car to drive no more lag than the o/e turbo but much more of a kick in the back still using sti top mount

I am using a simtek though

and as Dunx says i also had to have a new clutch pretty soon after the upgrade

Interesting points, I should say suspention and brakes are sorted.
Tein and PF.

It's lag/spoolup that bothers me with a bigger turbo, pity there isn't a try before you buy option LOL

How much is a man enough clutch supplied and fitted?

Engines only done 22k and is sweet as a nut, so not looking to rebuilds at this time.

I think i'd go for a 2.3 though (which i guess is a short stroke 2.5 block?) I like an engine with a revvy character.

Martyn, it would be great if i could sample a 2L engine with a 555 on it. I'll give you a buzz next week.

Bigger turbo will always have more lag, it's the nature of the beast Just drop a cog & watch everyone else start reversing

TX.

PS

My car is just shy of 400hp at moment albeit having trouble holding boost presently ... will be nearer 450 when sorted. It's an absolute beast, probably too fast for the road really.

PPS

Mine's a light classic rather than your heavy MY05

Went from 360 to 400 by replacing Turbo for a FP green from Scoobymania, with yelow injectors, parallel fuel rail mod, APS metal turbo intake pipe and inlet manifold insulators. Car already had tubular headers, FMIC, fuel pump changed, and APS 3 inch sports cat system and running a GEMS ECU. In December I fitted the APS 3.5 inch de-cat exhaust so now at 416 bhp. I don't notice the lag unless I mess up. Am replacing the fuel pump next week for a hi flow item that is good for 500 bhp.

And I'm right in thinking the sccoby rumble is gone with the RCM tubular manifold even though it's unequal length?

IMHO there is a reduction in "rumble", and at higher revs it's more of a superbike "blat"...

Just need to dot the I's and cross the T's.

Also, there does not seem to be much in the way of affordable finance on a GT-R

Bit of GT-R trivia, was browsing the site, you can pay £905 for fancy floor mats with a carbon bit in them - good grief.....

So yea, currently looking for excuses to "pop" down to Plymouth.

Is that a good enough excuse?

Indeed! Little tip(off topic now), if you like pasties, there is a baker in Chaucer Way, just down from Crownhill and their pasties are probably the best Ive tasted! That is only relevant if you know Plymouth. Back on topic!

are you after cheapest way to 400hp or what exactly cos i though pink injectors were good for 380_410hp?
and you dont need headers etc as yours are good
so your adding cost for no hp????
