Default Pistonheads Scam Using My Car

My son was looking at pistonheads site last night and come across this ad.

Clicky

This is my old advert that was placed on pistonheads but was removed from the site about a month ago.
Someone has relisted my car but they have changed the following details:
The price
Contact details
Loaction
I have reported this to pistonheads and have had no reply as yet, I have also reported this to bedfordshire police to get a report ref number.
I hope this isn't going to cause me any problems with my car ending cloned
They have even paid for a premium ad on the site.

Don't think its a case of your car getting cloned but more of a case of deception,it sounds to me as though they have relisted your car to prospective buyer to gain interest, then an agreed sale ,a meeting up and probably a MUGGING of cash from the buyer of which he thinks is a genuine sale.
You have acted correctly in reporting it to pistonheads and also the police, there's alot of this scamming happening at the moment i nearly got stung with a guy from finland ,hope this works out for you.

A prospective buyer would have to be a numpty to think he was getting that car for £5k though.

I couldn't believe it whn my son found my car listed
As you say the price isn't realistic I just hope people don't get caught out by this.
I'm damn sure I wont be using pistonheads to advertise anything again.

Just emailed em, this is the reply:
Hi,
The price is correct .
The car is still available for sale,it is in perfect condition in and out,100% HPI clear with a certificate to confirm, full service history.I just got married and moved with my Italian husband in Milan,Italy.I took the car with me so the car is currently here.I can`t use it in Italy because it has the wheel on the right side and it would also cost me too much to register it here.It is still registered in the UK and since I have absolutely no use for it I am looking for a fast sale( this is why the low asking price)I can ship the car from here directly to your home address and I am also willing to cover all delivery expenses.
I look forward to your reply.
Regards

What annoys me about these ads is the lack of help from Pistonheads. I once contacted a guy about a set of STI lights on PH. It was obvious from his reply it was a scam, but having tried to contactr Pistonheads repeatedly with no success the ad was still there 3 days later and eventually had a 'sold via pistonheads' banner on it. Nice one PH!

I did try and contact them but had no luck with a reply
I can't see anyone falling for it myself, but you never know someone my get taken in by it.

Thanks again for asking questions.. would be good to see if other get the same reply to the ad?
The car advert location is shown as Liverpool.

Yet another good reason for blanking out your reg nr when advertising your car IMHO

TX.

Edit - you should buy it Lisa as that's a good price

I reported the scam ad when it appeared last week and it was removed and again yesterday when it reappeared.

Still on there when I checked tonight, do Pistonheads have the weekend off ?
