Default My 2006 STI UK is using Oil, No visual leaks.

I bought my 2.5 STI Type Uk from a Jap Car specialist Just Outside Edinburgh. I have had the car now nearly 5 weeks. Last few weeks i have noticed the car has been using a little engine oil. No knowing if the level was at the Maxumum when i took delivery of the car. I decided to monitor the situation. I have done nearly 300miles now and the car needed a top up of about 250ml. I have had a local Impreza specialist do some checks on the car and one was a Compression Test. This has found that all Cylinders are down on pressure and one of them being as low as 105.
The car was Re-mapped by Wallace Performance in Aberdeen, Has a Miltek turbo back Exhaust and panel filter.
The garage i bought this car from sold me this as a massive Spec Modified car 340BHP. I now have a car that needs an engine rebuild

Where do i stand as far as the garage that supplied the car is concerned? Would they be obliged to contribute to the engine being uprated so it could handle 340bhp as advertised by them?

All advice would be appreciated !!

Presumably it was sold with a warranty?

mine uses around the same as well. this has been raised on here before and according to subaru up to a litre of oil every thousand miles should be seen as acceptable. as for your motor though needing a rebuild as has been said i would of thought it should be under some sort of warranty?

Yes it was sold with a warranty. Putting the car back to original condition as in replacing just the pistons and rings with original equipment will result in the problem re-occuring i think at the power its producing.

I have been advised that the glands on the pistons break causing this problem.

Options are to put the car back to original power of 265bhp or upgrade the engine to forged componenets to ensure a reliable engine and this problem not returning.

The garage did sell the car claiming massive 340BHP power.

When it comes to the warranty rebuild, why not contribute towards to some forged pistons. If the old block is re-used then get it honed/machined to spec, or if a new short block then swap the std pistons.
You can then keep to the higher power output

Question

I have managed to get a replacement short block machined fitted with Mahle Forged pistons and con rods with race bearing and rings. Also replacing the oil pump since the engine is stripped down. This will all be supplied and fitted for approx £1700 with exchange with my old block.

Then will be looking for a re-map with Andy Forrest just to make sure everything is setup correctly.

I'm hoping the garage will contribute to the repairs. I'm not keen on letting this garage strip my car down since there not Subaru specialists.

Would this be £1700 well spent knowing my car has been repaired to a higher spec??
Or do i trust this garage and hand over my car and have them repair it behind closed doors

Whatever option i choose i'm going to lose out on £££££££
