Default INSURANCE FRUSTRATION!!

rite so i get a quote for a STI PPP blobeye in jan (just turned 22, 2 years no claims, 5 year clean license!) around £1400... not bad as this is what i paid last year on my WRX! sell MY05 WRX in light of getting an STI PPP (plus a few other reasons but this was the main reason!) start to look at a few cars and thought i would double check the quote.. ring up price has now jumped to £2750!!!!!! the underwriter was doing a trial on under 25's with high powerd cars, and within 2 weeks had 7 massive write offs so have put prices up! great!! now i have no car, and cant get the car i want

keith michaels have been very helpful but the above is the best they could come up with!

im angry

You have just proven why young drivers pay a fortune on high performance cars, they write them off because they are too powerful for them and dont use them correctly

We all went through the expensive period for insurance, its your turn now so dont worry too much about it, it will come down eventually

You have my sympathies mate, I sold my mazda 3 MPS which I insured for £310 fully comp, I put down the deposit on a 07 WRX with PPP assuming it wouldn't be much more bearing in mind I am 36 with 15 years NCB. Adrian Flux quoted me £1200, I finally got it down to £660 with Keith Michaels but not impressed as I am an old fart and thought I had left stupid premiums behind!

i have always found elephant and admiral (same group) to be the only companies that will offer a quote that isnt ridiculous, even when i didnt have much no claims. You can also play them off against each other and you can normally knock off upto an extra £50..

Also i drastically reduced the cost of my insurance by adding my parents on as additional drivers.. ideally you would want 2 women with clean licenses over the age of 30 on there.. could mean the difference between getting insured or not with a company or only paying half as much as insuring it with just you as a named driver

i think when we all renew with keith a lot of our plicy will change as he has been using qbe to underwrite them but now qbe are pulling out of the british market so they will be usoing some other underwriter and maybe not getting as good deals ive go tall my mods on the policy im 31 5 years ncd and i pay 750 but i reckon its going up this renewal and every ones insurance has gone up this year becuase the old insurance preimum tax has gone up to i work in insurance and its a hard makret when there is so much fraud around staged crashes young drivers crashing, the stock market being crap as that were all the big insuracne companys make there money or use to the old money poole is running low i think

QBE were taken over by Markerstudy, so we still have the same scheme, but the underwriters are now QBE Markerstudy.

However, we use several schemes so if one comany put their prices up we can place you with a different insurer.

Although under 25's is a different matter, as several companies have had bad experiences insuring under 25's on performance cars.
I'm not saying we can't do under 25 year olds, but it won't be cheap.

Dodgy claims and VERY high PI costs are costing the insurers a lot of money at the moment.

i think your lucky to even get a reply from keith michaels as my husband has waited over a week for a reply now and they still havent got back to him!!! even after several follow up calls. its so annoying, it took a plan 4 days to return the call aswell. WHY????????

my renewal has just gone up by a further £572.

I was recommended M&S (underwritten by Aviva) by another scoobynet member when I bought his 97 uk turbo (declared stainless exhaust and 260bhp)- best by far. Quoted £744 (25 yrs old, female, 7 yrs NCB, clean sheet) with £270 excess and RAC breakdown included. When I phoned to pay it went down to £695. Brilliant

Not sure about the TCS thing.

I was looking at your renewal last week, and think i have found you a cheaper price than your renewal came down at anyway.

Will probably give you a call tomorrow once i confirm it.
