i also have GC8A48D - 93 wrx in 262 silver (262 silver was stopped in 94 - replaced by 406 silver).

i wouldnt say there was "plenty"
i mean how many 93 wrx's were imported to the uk and out of them how many are still "on the road"
also my GC8A48D has the DW2HE engine so not just a WRX but one of the first STI's

i think you will be suprised to hear how many of these cars are about. you say "were imported" they are still coming over from japan all the time. mine only came over 18 months ago - with an amazing 36000 genuine miles!

im sure they were changing it to an age limit but i guess this hasnt happened.
i cant see there being more than 10-15 a year of pre-facelift models ever coming over for the last ???? amount of years though
i mean the cost of shipping against re-sale and the fact they must be thin on the ground over there now
i think we could do with making a "register" of all the pre-facelift classics so we get a better idea of how many are still "alive"

are you joking! over the last few years hundreds if not thousdands of pre 96 cars have come over. youve only got to look on the auction jap auction sites to get and idea or take a visit to liverpool docks to see boats full of em.
take a look on autotrader or ebay, the uk is flooded with jdm imprezas, thats why the chavs have em now cos they have lost there value.

a v1 sti would be a bit of a rare fine though as there were limited numbers - that i agree. does yours have the plaque with the build date and number?
Only 100 sti saloons and wagons made per month from February 1994 to May 1994, and 200 per month from June 1994 to August 1994.

Mines 1995 UK motor with a totally strait shell and under the bonnet it's just as it came from the dealer. Apart from the "Waste your energy compressing air then dump it between houses to try and get young girls to fancy you" Valve which will be removed

i was just thinking statisticaly, i know thousands come off the production line but still wouldnt have thought that the uk would end up with them all .......
as said it would be intresting to get a list together and see for sure how many 92/93 wrx's and early STI's are still alive
Midlife now in its life its had a Sti4 spoiler fitted
where would i find the plaque i havent seen one i did have a look but have searched using the vin plate codes to find it was an early sti
ive read that this was the only version that was taken at the end of the production line and "altered". from the v2 they were made on the production line along side the std WRX's

There are still thousands of pre face-lifts in the UK. Granted they are reducing pretty fast, but it'll be a long time before they are "rare".
I'd be interested to know if the 6 digit number on the vin plates are sequential. As example mine is:
GC848D 011421, Built some time in 1993.

my car is standard except wheels and exhaust and its staying that way. i still have the original wheels and exhaust too. Unabused standard ones with low miles are a rare find!

my silver one is a standard pre facelift, but i bought a second impreza after the poor old girl went bang that was an m reg pre facelift that has had a lot of money spent on it once, ie full facelift and respray blue, engine, turbo, wiring loom and ecu out of a later car with the coilpack on top and so on. nice to have one of each but i do prefer the look of my pre facelift.
