Default Check engine light on after stage one tunning

Can some one tell me why after my stage one package of two weeks ago my engine light has just come on.
I know nothing about cars, and I want to know if it is safe to drive the car off boost till I can ring my tuners on monday.
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks.

Any chance you can tell us what model and what year it is please? and what exactly is a "stage 1" package?

Sorry, its an 07 year 2.5 Hawkeye Sti and the car has uprated fuel pump, panel flter 76mm Milltek exhaust with sports cat. and of course a custom remap.
The car appears to be running fine, just the light is on steadily.

Probably due ti the miltek exhaust wit sports cat, it will be okay for MOT but outside the parameters set by Subaru. Years ago tehe was a CEL light fix unit but cannot remember where from. Speak to where you got the work done for advice, they may be able to fix it in the ecu. Get this annually at MOT time.

I doubt if it's a de-cat / sports cat issue as the Tuner usually maps this CEL (P0420) out so it never appears

shouldn't have engine light on.. could be anything thought before someone plugs in and checks the actual code.. emissions should be mapped out but can be missed..

whomever mapped it should turn it off... if you let them know it is on, assuming just emissions

Thats the low / high boost function typical of an EcuTeK map ............. not related to the CEL

Further thought, if the emissions are mapped out, as already suggested, is there a chance it may not show up a more serious problem developing.

Exactly !

Drive it like Grandma till it's re-re-map'd.....

"By one of the best" who just may have slipped up, possibly or there is a random fault surfacing....

I had the same problem on my 03WRX after it had a up pipe, sports cat and remap by Zen, i Think it is to do with the Oxygen sensor in the up pipe, luckily I have a tactrix cable and software so checked it out, and did a search for CEL fix, I cannot fully remember what I did but I had to put a resistor in the plug to replace the sensor, that was 2 years ago, no problems and no engine light

no you can turn just the emissions error codes off.

would hazard a guess your higher boost map is triggering the overboost CEL and you flip it to the low boost and drive it and the light will then go out.. there are two boost limits, one for the CEL and one to fuel cut, assuming it is an 01~05 car.
