Default Impreza Cosworth CS400 specs in New July Evo mag

Looks like Evo magazine have the exclusive on the Impreza Cosworth.

The exterior styling looks pretty much like any other Sti Hatch. The main spolier is there plus a lower lip spolier just above the rear lights. I bit of mesh at the front of the bumper sporting the Cosworth logo and at the mesh on the sides of the front bumper too. Still on 18" wheels too.

Inside gets new better seats with Cosworth Logo, piano black dash inserts, everything else looks pretty standard.

395bhp, 3.7 to 62mph, no torque fiqures quoted.

Suspension on new Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers dropping it by 10mm and 10mm wider track.

6 pot AP brakes upfront on 355mm discs with "unique" groove pattern.

The 2.5ltr engine has new Cosworth forged Piston and Rods made at Cosworth uk site.

Bottom end re-ground with new head gaskets, oil pump, exhaust and turbo. Bigger manifolds and down pipes. None of these parts will be available as after market items.

They end the piece with a quote from the Cosworth Technical Director, saying Durability is crucial.

Price £49,995 but I think you all knew that anyway, comes in 3 colours Silver, Dark Grey and Red.

you might as well by a licfiel type 25 makr 2 it got more power and it cost less, but then its not got that all important name on it cosworth which will see it turn into a real classic which holds loads of money in years to come if any of them surive but i think its a worthy thing for subaru to do about time they started to make some big power models to upset the fq400

My mates recently dropped his order for one, but I still reckon if he get to try one, he definitely have one

I've pointed him to Litchfields but he can't seem to remove the beer googles, all he can see is the cosworth badge

wait till they get a year old, will be a lot cheaper then.. downside of car ownership is the way their value goes down everyday, oh well full steam ahead, engage turbo......whosh !!! ;-)

All 75 sold now I'm told. I'd still go for a T20 before that, but then again, and Ariel Atom 300 with top spec options would be £10k cheaper and lose a minute fraction through depreciation, and still leave any Scoob on the planet wondering where it went.

That's not true, if what I have been told about certain parts. As some are already available but under a different guise. The turbo for example.

So all big repairs if needed would have to be at a Subaru dealers? Don't like the sound of that.

A future classic I'm sure but not one I would buy new (unless I won the lottery)...£50K for an Impreza is serious car money

Hope they end up actually being driven, rather than just taken out of the garage every now and then to go show boating

I'd have a lightly modded hatch STI (365bhp) for everyday and a mental 2 seater for weekends/track days instead for that kind of money

Too much money IMHO, 2 x price of STI for what extra? You can get some serious cars for £50K Ford are doing the 350 bhp RS focus 500 for £35k, Why is the Subaru so expensive?

Cosworth has 6-pot AP brakes
Engine re-build parts and labour
Replacement turbo
Cosworth brand tax

Add to that small production runs of bespoke components and design costs amortised over 75 cars and that's your answer. Not saying I agree with the price, but Subaru have to make some money on it.

I doubt that, you probably just have to supply the chassis number when ordering parts to prove its going on a genuine CS400.

I know what you're saying but I think they can't shift the STI, too many worries about chocolate pistons, new model/face lift next year? So they've got to move the cars they have left. Options heavily discount the remaining STI's or make a limited number of upgraded models and try and sell them as something special with a premium price. I would really like to know what the interior spec/equipment is compared to an STI and where all the extra money is going.

Subaru wouldn't do that would they !!!!! Anyway it's not the pistons fault it's owners putting in the wrong tyre pressures

I heard two conflicting stories

1 A dealership will have a saloon in August
2. Saloons only available in the USA

To be honest the feature in EVO was pretty pants

The car looks pants... ugly wheels and grills what a shame...

So if you want a hatch that wont self destruct... it'll cost you £50k ... what a joke

Thinking about it - they could have done something REALLY good for that sort of money.

Shame on Subaru and Cosworth

Not impressed for £50K, front lip spoiler, grill kit, fog lights and Cosworth badges, £20K over what you would have paid for 330S for 70bhp, bigger brakes, different wheels and different seats. £27k for an sti gives you 330 bhp and 18" wheels at present. Far too much money IMHO for the Cosworth. I guess the exclusivity may sell it?

As the article says "though it still doesn’t look or feel like a 50-grand car. Which is what the CS400 is. £49,995 is a near doubling of the £27,590 a standard STI costs, leaving a yawning price gap between the two."

Have the remaining UK STI's been stripped and converted to Cosworth's or is this a genuine production run?

£50k? Way too close to a Nissan GT-R at that price.

If they haven't actually sold them all already, they certainly will.
I can't see anybody at Subaru or Cosworth worrying too much!
The build wasn't all about how much power you could get out of it, but the overall package, and the promo value.
Relatively, the Sierra RS500 cost more than this one does when new.
