Unless you bought a Litchfield t20 and you see the face of the poor guy who has just realised he has spunk'd 50k, (or whatever stupid price tag they have slapped on it) when he could of saved 15k and been the car in front,

Rear lights on the new STI are gash, they make the car look like you have reversed into a halfords shop window. Thats why most of us hatch STI owners change them to look like this...

And IMO the CS400 is Subaru UK trying to use up some of it's unsold stock of STI's before the new models arrive by fitting some overpriced forged pistons that should have come as standard (to have avoided all the engine failures) in the first place

The 50k price tag is just ridiculous tbh! For that much you'd expect more than 400bhp! I was expecting more styling changes too, not just a couple of badges and different wheels, a couple of extra bonnet vents maybe or at least bin the chavtastic rear lights!!

Everyone as there own opinion but im sick of hearing about this 50k price tag.The cars are nearly all sold so there is no need to be concearned about the price you aint getting one.
Like the 22b 12 years ago 45k every one said wide arched type r yeah right try get a uk 22b now even if you have the money trust me i know.
This car in 12 years will still be worth 40k and no other run of the mill subaru will be, Buy ya spec c or rb320 ect ect and go loose 40% in first 36 months.
I know what i would be doing if i had the money.
Just my opinionxx

Not as extreme as I was hoping/expecting
Mat finish as per FRS500..so a bit copycat
Front lower grill (basically a zunsport copy) with a totally over the top cosworth badge (less is more!)
Stupid 2nd wing/trim... waste of time and does nothing to enhance the rear
Still has the Jumbo UK/US wing mirrors...why didn't they fit the smaller JDM ones?
Blacked/tinted rear clusters would have finished the rear better...
Alloys... well... I'd have preferred a more aggressive offset... still a bit tame and too OEM still.
Exhaust... still to much like the 330s STI... big twins not quads would have been more aggressive and a new look...
Looks like the time has gone into the engine and not the designing (where cosworth probably said "here... u do that bit IM") LOL
Bit of a let down really..missed opportunity by Subaru to really produce a special car...
Edited to add.. If I'd already ordered one and saw these pictures I'm sorry but I'd be canceling my order.. T20 (or T25) is going to be a better deal all round..including looks now.

Even if they'd given a wider, lower body for a much more aggresive look .. As been said before it just doesn't look like a £50,000 car ..
I mean come on .. it's an Impreza!!
I appreciate what people are saying re special one-off models and residuals etc and everyone's entitled to their own opinion but I think they could've done so much better

Ok ill put it in terms that some might understand you have a product that you have made before and it flew of the shelf.Ie 22b big money p1 big money rb320 big money all was described as being overpriced but all sold like hot cakes.
You now have a product that you know there is a market for ie a subaru with no choclate bits in it.So lets make one and sell it for as much as possible ie 50k it's taken 4-6 weeks to sell all the numbers so let's face it, The customers who have brought it its what it is a £50k worth of limited edition machinery that took 6 weeks to sell out.
Now why would they do all of the above and then want to sell it to us the customers for £35k Answer Because they are alot cleverer than me and u that's why.
Why put wider arches, why change the lights, why do anything different to get the end result and that is to sell the numbers and guess what its done.
I would rather buy a spec c for 15k and a porsche 996 for 30k and still have 5k to spend the month at the ring and smoke em both.

Ive gone from hating the hatch so much I even wrote an email to the UK MD of IM when first launched (he did reply!) to now owning a STI which I love!
Love the new Cosworth, price wont matter to those buying it

If you read the link theres mention of lesser versions with the Cosworth name. This may impact on sales (ala Clio Williams 1, 2, 3). As much as I love Subaru, if I'm buying a 50K hatchback I'd be sorely tempted by the Focus RS500.

According to Evo Mag it only comes in Silver, Red and Dark Grey. The picture in Evo is of the dark grey one and its not a matt finish. This must be a vinyl wrap like the Ford Focus RS500, but not available for general sale from Subaru. It could be a photo shop of course, and given the colours of the rear lights are a bit washed out is most likely.

taken from the evo article
'Based in California, it has been modifying boxer engines for the West Coast tuning scene for several years – often extracting between 600 and 800bhp.'
so why not this power for this car?? if they had, no one would be moaning
still dont like the rear lights
