Exhaust dilema
Think i'm turning into Powerwrx! (Rob lookout!!)
Currently have a very nice STI GENOME exhaust back box fitted to my bugeye.
I've decided it's just too quiet now (i really miss the deep burble)
However i don't miss the head aches that i got with my old backbox (NINJA2)
So now i've got myself an afterburner vortex backbox.
Do i sell the GENOME or keep it for the odd weekend i'll take the bug away on motorway runs etc.
Heres some pics.......... (not the best pics as they are taken with my mobile)
What do you guys recon i should do??

Been there, done that , bought the T-Shirt!
My opinion? If the Ninja2 gave u headaches the Afterburner will give u migraines!
What's ur whole exhaust setup? Have you changed anything else apart from the backbox?
I chopped and changed from Racebox to TSL Group N to standard ( dont ask! ) to Prodrive , BUT , I've changed my centre twice..1st time to a straight thro, that was a mistake! , WAY too droney and grating ..so changed that to 1 with a sports silencer, much better and made the Prodrive deeper , and now changed the 2nd Cat pipe , again added a wee bit more burble . Tempted to go further abd change the backbox to a Ninja2 or Afterburner but think that'd be too much.
Contemplate getting a Prodrive backbox..they are good and as I said if you add to it it gets deeper and louder.
Edited to say if you haven't changed the centre section do so ..it'll make ur Genome sound deeper and might just be what ur after

Thanks for the reply Steve,
The car currently has a ninja sports cat downpipe, decat mid pipe, resonated center pipe and a Genome back box.
Don't get me wrong, it does sound nice and deep, however it doesn't rumble like the ninja did.
It's such a pretty looking pipe though!
I would suffer the noise as i have a little civic for long motorway runs (good quiet ride and 35mpg!!)
Just in two minds as to whether to sell the Genome as i know they are very rare, plus i could always chuck it on if i decide to go touring in the wrx!!

The Genome does look good , tho the Ninja 2 and the Afterburner both look the dogs IMO .. As I said I'm thinking of getting 1, tho cant see the wife not noticing it
Out of curiosity, is it the angled exit or straight exit Afterburner?
I think u should see if u can get ur hands on a Prodrive backbox.. I think it'll be deeper than the Genome ..on mine it is proper burbley and thats with just the Decat midpipe and centre

I had an sti backbox fitted originally and even when it was fully decatted was not loud, then tried a prodrive, pretty much the same .I now have a ninja 2 and can honestly say it is the best compromise imho for a good all round backbox. Not mega loud ,a really nice rumble on tickover ,and can be heard 1/4 of a mile away when your giving it some.
If you thought that the ninja 2 was loud then when you fit the angled vortex you had better have your ear plugs ready and contact scoobyworld for one of these ;

On a serious point the vortex is ALOT louder than the ninja 2 trust me,I never suffer from headaches nor migraines, but on a long journey at speed with a vortex, you will need to learn sign language when you arrive at your destination - coz you'll be deaf !!
P.s when you do fit it and get round to starting it up for the 1st time, watch all the neighbours curtains start twitching as the noise starts rattling there window frames .lol

crap, right. I better suck it and see with the vortex then (maybe contemplate that bung you mentioned Midnight) I loved the loudness of the ninja2, just not the long journey drone. However i am retiring to a civic for long journeys now so that factor should be reduced somewhat. Vortex goes on tommorrow so i'll keep you guys posted.
Oh and thanks for all your views!
