I have managed to break the glass in my wing mirror.

Not a major problem (I thought), I phoned my local dealer yesterday who ordered the part and it was posted out to me.

I went to fit it today, but it was the wrong part (the packaging said Impreza mirror) it was about 1inch to big all around.

I phoned them today only to be told that Impreza mirror glass can't be bought on it own. (strange as I managed to buy one from them only 24 hours earlier)

My dealer told me that I needed to buy the whole wing mirror (glass, surround, motor etc..) At a cost of 95 + VAT I paid £5.59 for the glass only.

I then phoned another dealer who told me the same.

Can anybody help, I don't fancy over £100 for a £5 part.

Where have you guys bought your mirror glass from?

Question

Martyn, can't you try a breakers yard or something? How about somewhere like midland impreza? They should be able to sort you one out a little cheaper than a dealer

I dont know what year your car is but I had my MY98 wing mirrors colour coded by a Subaru dealer and they had to break the glass to get them off. They just ordered new glass.

Chrisp,

I have a MY97, it was colur coding that broke the mirror.

I did it myself as my dealer wanted £550 to do it. I had my car colour coded for £150 very pleased with the results apart from mirror

I would try some other dealers like Listers, Cheam and Beechdales. I am sure one of them can lay their hands on one.

Chrisp,

It was beechdale who supplied the wrong part, then told me that I would have to buy the whole wing mirror.

you could do like Hanslow said and try a breakers someone like grade A Subaru or ring round the scooby tuners and parts suppliers. Maybe worth giving Mike Tuckwood a ring at scoobymania. He may not stock them but may know where to get one.

cheers

We brought a glass on it's own a while ago for a MY95

Go to somewhere like Halfords, or a motor factors, you can get loads of different shape replacement glasses, and are sure to find one that will be a very close fit for about a tenner!!

I have spent the day looking for mirror glass but no joy.

I have tried all the usual places (halfords, motorworld, loads of independent parts dealers). Every where I go to there computers are tell them that the wing mirror glass on an Impreza Turbo is a " non serviceable part" .

All I need is a mirror glass!

Other people on here must have had to replace the glass them selves, what did you guys do?
