114bhp according to this....

Less now it's 13 years old, and don't bargain on the filter adding much. Add in drum brakes at the rear, no rear ARB and a weight of 1680kg giving 68bhp/tonne and it ain't no 'sports' car

Do not think a ind kit will add any power, if if does it will be negligable. unless you are looking at gains of 10+% (for agruments sake) then it really is unlikely you will feel it on a std road car in excess of a tonne in weight.
It will sound better mind

125ish was standard for the more powerful newage sport... and that needed more than an air filter kit to get it over 130
The 4x4 system also saps the N/A power big time, When I had my sport I got my *** handed to me on a plate many times by "similar powered" 2WD hatches

I had an interesting day-out yesterday at Red Dot Racing. In reponse to " the older a car is the more hp it loses.
We took down a '96 BMW 318i, which had been sat on a driveway for 3 years, put a new battery on it and gave it a cheap service, tax and MOT and put it on the rollers. Now as standard the car has around 112bhp. On the rollers it made 131.7 bhp. The car in question had 230K miles on the clock and still drives extremely well!

a 112bhp car making 131bhp - without mods to the engine/managent then i would suspect a 'optimistic' RR Perhaps you have the I-S model, from memort has the z-axle m-spec suspension as well - nice car

I'm quite surprised tbh as I went out in one a few weeks ago for the first time and it felt more like 150bhp type of area.
Also, I'm pretty sure they had discs on rear? It was only 1.6/1.8 boggos that had drums?

Its a 115 hp car that little or nothing can be done to improve its performance. to make any power in this model is cost prohibitive.

Hmm, the 318i-S model came with 140BHP, limited number made though, short run from memory.

No engine mods just been driven hard since around 80K when we first acquired it. The RR was spot on we think, as other cars were in-line with expectations all day.
We were pretty happy with the result

Oops, my bad. I read the gross weight which includes maximum payload, but kerb weight I believe is measured dry, so no oil or water, just the metal and plastic of the car so 1250-1300 is probably about right.

Yeah, I said that earlier. I also said it went surprisingly well for that power. And he said I'd think a 99hp charade was 300hp. Which is where the confusion arose.

sorry i didnt mean to confuse, but hp and acceleration is a very subjective thing. I used to own a wee 1 litre 99hp charade that went like **** of a shovel. when i first bought my jap wrx with 260bhp the charade i felt was as quick as that. again subjective, as the power to weight figures dont add up.
