buying a STI......
Hi, have been on the hunt for a blob eye STI for a couple of months and thought I had my head around different variants until tonight. I was under the impression that all STIs circa to 2004 and 2005 were 305bhp standard.
However after making some inquiries on one today i noticed in the ad that its 261bhp. After some research on the net am I right in thinking that only PPP STIs have the power upgrade? Although the guy said it does have the pack anyway? can it be both?
Thanks

brought an o4 blob sti 3 months back. did the research before and standard they are 262 bhp the pro drive performance pack gives it 303 bhp and has different cat exhaust and ecu chip. also late blobeyes o5 have the dccd dif and rear arch extensions. couldnt quite stretch to the 05 but got an 04 with ppp and 18 inch prodrive alloys.

so basically the guy at the dealership is more confused than I am! Such a shame I thought it was the one! Is it worth holding out for a PPP example?

They probably got confused LOL
PPP is dealer fit so Ask for the Dealer name, phone them with the VIN and ask if it's been fitted. Prodrive UK also keep a record of which cars have had the PPP fitted as the pack was ordered from Prodrive against a named vehicle.
I just noticed the price is Plus VAT ...... LOL

I'm pretty sure its inclusive, if you mean the (no vat) on the ebay ad. Think its specifying its not subject to vat as its not a commercial vehicle........well I hope so anyway, going to view it Wednesday night!

Ive had mine for three months and its the best car I've ever owned dont regret it for a minute. The only downside Ive found to the ppp is the insurance companies want to charge extra for the mods prodrive exhaust, ecu, alloys .

Thanks

If you have to go UK then 05 blob is a very good option
Knocking rear passenger struts are very common in the blobs, i am not sure if it was sorted out by the 05's

2005 WRX Standard - 225ps
WRX PPP - 265ps
2005 STI standard - 265ps
STI PPP - 305ps
You could tune a standard WRX or STI with a few mods and a remap to higher levels than shown above without the prodrive pack. But not much higher.
Basically the prodrive pack is eeking out that last bit of juice within the cars/turbos tolerance. If you want to go higher to around 350 - 400 bhp/ps youre need a bigger turbo.

Yep, they have a slightly different detailing that goes from the rear bumper and over the rear arches, god knows why. It coincides with a facelift on the dash from black ***** and facia to silver electronic ***** and silver facia.
