The car looks like a 2ltr twin scroll Spec C, so you wont get one over here from a dealer as they are grey imports, and they are quicker than the 2.5's and handle better
Would like to see how quick the hatch did it in, bet there is no time difference or the hatch may have been slightly quicker, beats the MY05 Spec C type RA's time by 4 seconds

Yeah.... but how much more bhp did it actually have over an OE JDM twinscroll 2ltr? These promo vids are all well and good, but you never actually know the spec of the vehicle being used. Sounds rather nice though and certainly goes in the "right" hands.

Thought it would of been quicker then that with the vf42 and 6 pots up front. Must be a lot heavier then the previous spec c's.

By the looks of the thread below the video the car is coming to the UK. However the spec c varient won't be.

Immy

Did you read the comment from the guy purporting to work in a Subaru dealership? He said the saloon was coming q3 this year - any idea if this is true?

Says it had a VF42 on it i doub't they'd be using turbo's from litcho's not to discredit his turbo's.
Plus if they had i'd probs of knocked of an extra 30 secs!

If it comes here with a 2.5ltr it will need to be £18K with the std chocolate pistons or £30K for Cossy version at for me to buy one.

IMHO IIRC

watching that he could go quicker. He looses time running wide at the end and ran wide in a fewother corners, also had a bit of an issue with a down shift, went into 2nd, then strfaight to 3rd for a about a second then to 4th.

NOt much time lost, fews seconds but impressive none the less.

I really want one

Considering how much time gained from cutting the corners and the fact he must of had his nuts in his mouth a couple of times, I doubt those couple of extremely minor errors would of bothered him too much. He really IS giving that car some **** around a place that does not take prisoners.

How did you manage that when it's in Japanese........i take it you can read and speak it then

I'll be onb the phone tonight to the dealers there to confirm prices and place one on order got a feeling it's going to cost me the best part of 30k+ with the current exchange rate

Yep.

Fortunately my wife is still in Japan for work so I can have it sent to her address as they'll only post to domestic addresses. I'll post specs when it gets here.

It has to be pointed out that this is a totally different car to what is available in the UK, this is a more focused and better handling car out of the box, Shaun, I doubt they have done much to it, the original record attempt car was standard, that was their point, an out of the box car that could pee all over the expensive german cars which were 2-3 times the price but it would be good to see what they are like in the flesh

Yes we are definately getting the STi saloon, however we will also keep the hatch.

I am yet to source the facts on the STi saloon rumoured to be based on the spec C

Its a pity Subaru did'nt record the Hawkeye Spec C's time around the ring as I reckon it would have gained a few seconds over the blobeye's previous record (mainly due to DCCD enhancments) & been a very similar time to this one.

The MY05 RA had the same enhancements as the MY06/07 cars, plus it was 10kg lighter due to all those heavy bits on the hawkeyes

Dccd setup is different on the 05 to 06 and the additional roof spoiler made the car handle much better through the slalom testing. Think it was one of the quickest untill the new GTR beat it.

Doubt ti will be based on the spec c as it has the 2.0 litre engine unless they go back to 2.0litre as it's much easier to register an import now. Saying tht it was very easy in 2000-2006, but they optes for a difference engine maybe it works out cheaper for subaru uk with a lower spec engine.

Ah! yes, I did'nt give the diffence in engine size a thought, I'm sure we'd keep the 2.5 for Europe. So I wonder what other features the Spec C has that might find it's way to a UK STi saloon?

Suspension? Brakes?
