Its a 1996 WRX, 260 bhp, green, 4 door, 80 k I think, imported 1996, docs from Japan in Japanese, and history here, aftermarket multispoke alloys - gonna check out all the usual, like drive it hard, HPI and go over with a fine tooth comb, but anything in particular I should look for, and before I put the asking price up, what do you all think price range is for these?

Thanks

Clutch, brake discs and pads, (piston slap ?) smokey exhaust, and all the other checks you would make on a used car. Check tyre wear as this is a good indicator of suspension geometry. If wear is uneven on the shoulders particularly on the outside edges then it may have been kerbed or worse. It may also point to how hard a life the car has had, though thats to be expected in a car of this calibre
Good luck mate, hope it turns out as you expect

Piston slap can only really be heard when the engine is started from cold. There are a number of reason why your 96 WRX is unlikely to to have it. It only really affected 1997-1998 UK spec cars so I doubt you would have the problem. It basically sounds like a loud knocking noise which disappears when it warms up. It to do with the size/shape of the piston not quite right for the bore.

You can read a bit more here and things to check :

cheers
