Hello and £3-4k to spend
Hi to all. I am thinking of getting a 2nd car as a bit of a toy really, have even managed to convince the Mrs with no hassle. Been wanting a turbo impreza for 7/8yrs but refused to pay silly premiums. Had a few reasonable quotes now so the hunt is on!
I've been trawling through the old threads and basically the choice is between a UK Turbo or Bugeye WRX. Would I stand a chance of getting a decent WRX at this price? I don't want to end up with a four wheeled money pit! To be honest I would probably go for a standard/ish one as I want to keep runnig costs and insurance down. Also as I drive professionally for a living haring around everywhere is not going to happen. I really dont need big bhp.
Are there any faults that would afflict one model but not the other?
Is there anything I should look for other the usual wear and tear, service history and owner that would help to sort the wheat from the chaff?
I also have to bear in mind that I have 3 kids as well so space is a consideration.
Any opinions greatfully received. Also if anyone in Peterborough area with said vehicles would be willing to show me what a decent one looks like or run me up the road that would be great!(appreciate its off putting when its a forum post from someone you dont know)

Warning duly noted. Dare say the bug will bite and a few bits will magically appear given time!
When I mean I dont want a money pit I mean no silly £1000 a year insurance, and want to avoid big repair bills because previous owner didnt service it or thrashed it everywhere! I am under no illusion that it will be a cheap car to run, even the sport I had a few years back was exactly cheap to run, but I'm still trying to be a little sensible about it!
I feel like a big kid daydreaming about a blast in the scoob this summer

You have just missed mine .... MY00, Impreza Turbo, One Owner!
Buy standard car
Buy UK car
Buy one with few owners and good history
Don't modify with chavvie stuff like Dump Valves! Yes, the women in short skirts may look at you ...... but that's out of pity for a saddo - not a desire to get in with you and play!!

a dumpvalve = a chav according to Mr PSLewis!
i'll have you know that just because my car is fitted with a dump valve i am far from being what is deemed a "chav" Mr PSLewis!!!! (which i reckon the majority of SN members would agree with me on this one too??)
Also i am also quite sure (with lots of pics to prove so i might add!!ha) - the said women in short skirts that i mentioned earlier are certainly not looking at me and thinking anything along the lines of pity my friend!!ha ha
Im afraid if these are the experiences YOU yourself are having in your scooby, the problem may lie a little closer to home i am thinking??..... LoL
Hey, each to their own and all that though right???

You fella's and your dump valves! Anyway just been looking at a few autotrader and noticed a wagon with 3x3 seatbelts in the back. Do all scoobs have this or just the wagons? Having proper belts in the back is obviously a big point when you have a family.

To bring it back on topic.
I`ve been to see a nice P1.
And it`s a shame you wern`t intersted in a Jap import as if i decide to go the p1 route mine very regretably will have to go up for sale
Car link scoobynet
I have the Jumvea Certificate Showing 82,000 Kilometers (50.000 miles) in May 2008
Clock now showing 84,026 Kilometers (52.500 miles)
Plus the 2 mots proving mileage since being in this country
And only the importer and us on the log book (we have owned it since 2/09)
Has a tracker fitted with certificate (great for insurance)
It`s a 280 PS model (276 bhp) And always run on Shell Vmax
Oh and its within you buget too
If you want anymore info just PM me

Thanks for the replies. Definetly handy to know that the uk bugeyes have the proper seatbelts. Also I am made up to know that I am not to old for a dumpvalve.
Wolfie, lovely motor and konceppt, nice motor great price. Problem is I resent paying ridiculous premiums hence I was looking for a UK model and standard or near as for the moment. Hopefully I can get to have a look at one or two in the near future.
