Clios are well known to out-handle an un-modded Impreza. (mind, most things do)

Power to weight ratio won't be far short, either, and no 4-wd losses.

Air con removal is a popular "mod" the belt only drives the air con unit

where do you want to start. suspension weighs a ton, interior, door cards, electric windows, carpeting, soundproofing weighs alot (trust its a bastid of a job removing it), front seats weight a good lot, air con you know about, changing the glass to plexiglass, fibreglass doors front and rear. do you have a steel or ali bonnet, changing that to fibreglass save a load too.

Its all a major PITA but does make some gains.

Impreza's have never been a capable track car... they're more A & B road kings (where the not so smooth tarmac trips up these stiffly sprung hot hatches)

My advice..buy Lee's R26 in the for sale section..

Really? I was under the impresion that the Impreza was one of the best handling cars around!! I have never done a track day and am far from the best driver around so am still only going on here say.

depends on the track, mates 172 was no quicker than my old GTi-6 and my impreza is definatly faster than that. Although on twisty track/roads i still think im quicker in the pug as i havnt got totally use to the impreza.

As said, ditch some weight, sort the brakes, arbs etc or wait for his electrics to fail
