Default estion about rev alert on STI

I have turned my alert down from 7,000 RPM to 5,000 RPM and was wondering if this will make any difference to the power?

I know its a silly question as surely its just an alert and not a limiter but I just dont know for sure so wondered if anyone could offer an answer.

I have also posted this thread on the Wales section so apologies for double posting.

I just set my alert up today, and was expecting it to cut the engine for some reason. I quickly learned that it does not

Thanks chaps.

Is the alert just a warning light, or does it beep/buzz ?

I found mine useful while running in a rebuild, but thought it would make a noise as well as light up.
