Default What a guy

Well I purchased my 2002 jdm STI a few months ago, I have previously owned classics but my 2002 jdm just never drove the way I wanted it to, through gears it was rough and fuel eco was well lets just say I need to own a shell garage, anyway yesterday through Adrian from Adgespeed.co.uk I met Andrew Carr, we took the car out and discussed what the problem are, he then checked my driving style out, we parked up on the layby for about 15 min or so, we then took the car back on the road, he made me do a few things and again we parked up on a lay-by, after doing this a few times and carrying out some hard driving we finally got there, I was being abit picky but Andrew did everything I asked him to do and I have got to say what a foooooooooookin difference, the car is some much better it just feels like it was built for my driving.
I must recommend open mapping but I am sure some will dissagree with this.

BIG THANKS TO Andrew Carr and Adge, nice one guys!!!!!

endless threads on the advantages and disadvantages of ecutek mapping versus open sourse mapping. WW3 nearly started (i exagerate of course but we had some pretty heated discussions). outcome, horses for courses, whatever your mapper likes best pretty much.

The funny think is the car had been mapped by Steve Simpson (OEM ECU), not knocking him at all I just didn't feel comfortable when driving the car at high revs, anyway every1 to there own, I am open mapper type of guy LOL!!!

oem ecu is ok to a certain extent. steve knows his onions and if it was a simtek ecu i am sure he could have tuned every last ounce of power out of the car while still remaining safe.

As you say if you find a mapper that you can trust and that explains what they are doing then people tend to keep using the same one.

It's also about "care in the community"

I e-mail'd Mr. Carr about some ecu pinout info for my car, and he sent it to me as soon as I could have expected, especially as he's so busy.

Even the JGM has put himself out to sort an issue with my ecu whilst he was supposed to be having fun at Elvington on Sunday, some two years after it was mapped the last time, not a mapping issue I must add. It was a NPS problem due to my changing to a DCCD box.

THe OS vs Ecutek arguement is bollocks, you are buying the knowledge of the person mapping the car for your benefit. Simples !
