Default Wrx or sti ? Newbie confused

Hello everyone

Newb here and a bit confused

I brought an imported impreza in march and due to a work accident it's just been sat in my garage since
What it is , is I brought it as a wrx and I have no reason to doubt it but I've been trying to get it insured and everyone is coming back with it's a wrx sti which is proving a bit if a pain
I have phoned 2 Subaru dealers who are saying two different things ?
I have checked on the net and with the engine code ,gearbox number and ecu it's coming back as anwrx or an sti
So just thought I would try and see if you could shed some light my way thanks in advance

The details are

Imported japan
Year (late)1993 l-reg
Ecu. 2c
Engine code ej20gdw2he
Chassis gc8b48d
Gearbox Ty752vb3ca

I hope this helps you to help me lol
Thanks

Chassis says WRX, transmission says STi. Possibly original gearbox was replaced with an STi version?

IMHO it is a WRX, the chassis code is the key identifier. If you post up pics (engine, dash, seats etc) someone will be able to confirm.

Thanks for the replys
I've had a couple of pm's as well some saying wrx and again some saying sti still confusing
I had the car checked over when I brought it and they said there were no signs of any repair work or previous damage

I'll get some pictures up soon
Thanks again

if its a v1 sti as per that website (which is full of mistakes) then it should have a sti plaque with XXX/100 riveted onto the drivers inner wing.
silver intercooler (not black) is a good way to tell also (assuming no engine transplant).
