same again fella the intercooler would foul the manifold before the pipe reached the turbo and the idle speed control valve would get in the way of fitting a dump/recurculating valve.

yeah the early sti top mount is slightly bigger and has a better inlet pipe, i had one fitted to my classic and have out grown it now so have gone front mount due to not wanting to mess around fitting a larger top mount off of a later model car

it would fit with around £100 worth of mods add that to the price of the intercooler and you are in front mount territory.

I fitted my V2 with a V6 top mount with very little fuss. Just make sure you get the right Samco hose and you may have to take some material off the throttle inlet tract. There is a fitting guide on this site somewhere, it's what I used to do mine.

Hope this helps

All the mention above of it won't fit because the manifold is different is total rubbish. Trim down where the tmic meets the manifold and you may need to trim the manifold itself. Buy a silicon hose to cut down as well and make up a couple of small brackets. The other thing you'll need to do is blank off for the dump valve. A small 3mm metal plate cut to size and home made gasket does the job well. It takes a couple of hours to do it properly yourself. or take the intercooler and the car to a tuner and they should be able to do it for you no problem.

There's no need to stick to a tmic from a classic. You can get the newage sti tmic to fit. Just make sure you have the car mapped to cope with the added volume of airflow through the larger tmic that will lean out your mix and cause det if you don't.

ETA - infact i have my v5 sti top mount from my v1 ra in my shed. I can take pics to show you what needs doing.

Thats how i trimmed my V5 IC.

If it hasnt been mentioned youll need to hammer down the gear box bount cover too. Also the seem weld on the firewall/bulkhead part will need flattening (lump hammer )

Blanking plate

Hers how mine is mounted. Only mounted on one side and is completely solid

I kept the original DV position, just trimmed a samco to suit.

Hope that is of help.

I've got an sti 4 top mount and throttle body modified to fit an early classic similar to the above, it worked extremely well on the car and responded well in mapping. Both are for sale and I'll be advertising them soon.

It was only changed because of an upgrade to a front mount because it didn't really like over 1.5 bar with the hose clips we were using and my sister wanted a front mount.
