Question DIY 30k service duration

Hi All,

Did a 30k service on my 2006 Sti yesterday, took me 8hrs

My mrs thinks that it should'nt take anywhere near that time and that maybe I am a little too much of a perfectionist

What do you think ?? Is 8hrs too much or about right ??

8 hrs is miles out mate, we'd get shot at work if it took that long.

couple of hrs is the norm maybe less tbh or thats the allocated time we get as correct me if i'm wrong isnt a major service, looking at my 08 booklet. even if it was all the fluids we'd get a max of 3.4 hrs to do the job

30k service on mine is just
oil/filter
air filter
wheel rotation front to rear
check over the vehicle

If done on the drive with limited equipment then you cannot match the garage times when they have wheels free lifts. So they can rotate the wheels whilst the oil drains.

As mentioned, its your car, you love it, take as long as you like.
Servicing a car is a bit like making love to a beautiful woman.....

Thats my view too

I did the following,
Engine Oil
Engine Oil Filter
Gearbox Oil
Rear Diff Oil
Air Fllter
Spark Plugs
Pollen Filter
Coolant change

All done with the help of a pit, dont have access to a ramp/lift.

Just had mine have its 3rd year or 30k miles service at Subaru main dealer including its first MOT. Cost £278 all-in which I didn't think was too bad at all.......................

As above though, if you enjoy doing it, then why not!!
