Is there a way to to "soften" up my ride just a tad?
Hi..
My current car is an MY05 WRX Wagon with the standard 17" wheels , Falken tyres set to 31/29psi . Fitted Prodrive Springs and got the geometry done about 1 month ago/ 300 odd miles.
Now dont get me wrong, it feels well planted, handles great and looks good ..but when doing the daily grind on 30mph city roads to work it really feels hard as hell and any slight hole/dip in the road is a "brace yourself " job .. Fred Flintstone and stone wheels spring to mind!..The wife cant stand the ride quaility any more and avoids going in the car as much as possible now ( so there maybe is a plus side )
Is there anything anyone can suggest to improve things without fitting back the original springs?
Or should I just MTFU
Thanks in advance,
Steve

If you drive it moderately or relatively hard mate I'd inflate the tyres to about 35 or 36 psi at the front, and 34 at the back.
31/29 is very soft.
I admit I noticed the same difference when I went from standard to Prodrive springs. Corners well (although still with a bit too much roll for my liking) but the ride is compromised. If it's bad on 17" wheels it's probably worse for me running 18's!
Possibly better shocks and springs. I'd be interested to hear what other people have done.

steve,
I have a 2005 wagon with prodrive spring and 18" wheels.
Scoobyclinic fitted me some Boge Automatic gas shocks (which are quite soft) but it transformed the car on B roads and round town, no more crashing about. Coupled with a whiteline Rear ARB and ally drop links made it much more enjoyable to drive.

Thanks everyone..
53WRX - So could the tyres be partially to blame? Car came with Falkens, which I dont particularly like and was thinking of going for the Goodyear F1 Assymetrics .. How good are Michelin PS2s in comparison?

I got my hawk WRX lowered and to be honest the standard shocks are not up to the job!! As well as getting a knock it was a very hard ride especially on our crap roads. I returned it to standard and fitted a set of 18" prodrive alloys and am much happier now.
Does not look quite as good but would rather sacrafice that than comfort

Seriously tho our roads in Surrey are some of the worst in the country and it gets on my **** If you drive behind me you would think I'm drunk as I'm dodging all the pot holes
Its just one of the down sides to owning a scoob it might have to be something you have to live with.

From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
If you aren't struggling for clearance a 10mm wider tyre will add some cushioning...
Or going from a 45 profile to a 50 will add some sidewall flex.
Whatch out for speedo errors tho'.

Ta Dunx..
Now gotta find out if 225/45/17's will rub especially on the rear..remember a wagon I had a long time ago having problems with 225 profile tyres
