My work mates thought the same until I took them for a run one dinner time. Between the swearing and laughing, they now all understand .

Question

Told lads at work that I,ve joined scoobynet to talk to other like minded people and that I will be going to events/meets with lots of other scooby owners.
Response was that I/we all must be a lot of sad people with not enough in our lives to keep ourselves busy. QUOTE You don't see me attending any meets in my Vauxhall Astra Estate do you?.
Please could you let me know if its only the idiots I work with that think like this, or has anyone else had this problem.
Responses would be nice so I can pass them on tomorrow.
cheers.

Ignore them... I have a few people that say that to me. Most of them lurk on here now though!

Why should you pass up a valueable information source because of what someone else thinks?

The social side isn't bad either!

It's a hobby. A person needs a hobby to keep them interesting.

After all, we could just spend all our time surfing the internet etc...

...or tell them that you assume they don't want a passenger ride at the next SIDC track either then...

Would`nt be so bad but the people who generally come out with statements like that either sit at home and watch tele all night,(and in which case they are jealious of you `cause you got a life away from work) or go to the pub all night.(and are just plain sad).

Of course we're all a bit sad, but our cars are a fairly profound redeeming feature

nothing sad about it! Never has any car previously driven put such a big smile on my face every time.

I got laughed at by the girls at work when I told them the car was called a scooby and I meet up with other scooby owners..

there is only one word for scooby virgins---Naive!

What about a bunch of even bigger saddos who spend their whole life talking about a bunch of blokes chasing round a field after a plastic ball then wasting all their time and money at weekends travelling to watch them and whats left buying saddo clothes with numbers and names on their backs. Most of these saddos dont even play the game themselves...and are so unfit they couldnt even if they wanted to.

Yes its very easy to run other peoples interests down. Tell your workmates to get a life and let others enjoy theirs.

Am I sad? yup, and proud of it. most of the people outside of scoobyney that I chat to think I'm mad and sad, but to hell with them. It's a community thing, the meets are great, and it's like 80 percent of my social life.

It gets a bit heated when I mention to this people that they are the same with thier constant talk about bloody football teams and football BBS'es, and going to matches etc... Seems it's one rule for them and another for me!

I talk about downpipes, brakes, dawes, etc, they talk about, well, not sure, don't care it's footy talk, and as you may have gathered I am not a a footy fan, well, american footbal maybe, but not 'soccer'

One word for ppl who think we're sad, jealousy

I was shocked at the way ppl I thought were friends and who I knew in my office changed when they saw my scoob. Snide comments, jokes well insults bout being a boy racer, dangerous driver etc usual stuff. I just smiled and thought well at least I have a car which is in a different league to your euro sheds One guy was just interested in ranting off a list of things that could go wrong with it hehe. I jus said well if any of that stuff happens it has extended warranty, he walked away dejected

We aren't sad - everyone else is with their blinkered attitude

Everyone in my office thinks its cool (most have however been out in the car to understand why )
