hi Karl

Are we talking the bug eye (more rounded headlights) or the blob eye (longer, newer facelift version) as some people put the 2002 car down but its a 2003 model?

This should give you a bit of help, they say 2002 on both but one is a 2003 model.

Ok, it would need to be mapped for uk fuel as the JDM ones are mapped for 100 ron, last of that type of engine before they upgraded the cars to twin scroll (you lose the burble but gain more low down power/torque and better engine internals), not that the previous engine was bad, it wasnt, those engines can still run 400+bhp every day

Main issues are that the rear shocks can go so if its knocking its probably knackered.
Brakes can feel wooden and you need to stamp hard on them sometimes, its normal and a change of pad fixes it.
Watch for crunching on the gearbox, normally points to a syncro being knackered these are very strong gearboxes though and you dont get that many having issues.
Check for full service history, its advisable, dont buy a car thats done 20+k between services, these engines like to be maintained (this model its 6 months OR 7.5k miles, whichever is first) and the cambelt is every 5 years.
Usual checks for knocking on turning, damage to alloys that can point to damaged suspension parts etc, though I will find the check list from another site and post it up for you, covers most things

Probably wouldnt have been mapped if its a fresh import, will cost you about 650 quid for this, but that should give you about 300-320bhp and run on uk fuel

Basically yes, not much goes wrong if well maintained, just wear and tear items.

Clutches aint too bad, should wear well, same with the diffs, if its been totally abused then you should pick it up when driving, and over there in Ireland you will need it mapping for fuel for sure

I cant work out what 2 years test todays means? and why on earth is this a limited edition? As this is a Jdm motor then it will not be prodrive as it states in the add.

No it is a prodrive model, their Prodrive version has the roof vent and a few other goodies, but its a limited edition that was japan only.
