Default Dump Vave Or Not ?

Any thoughts on fitting a dump valve to 07 Reg WRX.Only non standard bits are a K&N closed cone filter and stainless exhaust.Would it be worth it for the whoosh effect ?
Are they easy to fit ?

Now Now.

WRX07, It's your car and you can do what you like. But a VTA is just a waste of money. They give you no power gains what so ever. If you want some form of noise why not go for a Turbosmart dual port.

The factory recirc is very, very good. If you want a little more noise why not make a CAI to the wing and your get the noise in the air box.

If not do what I have done and go DV delete. But even now and then the noise annoys me.

NOT! There's no point .. they just screw up the fuel/air mixture of your engine, causing it to run rich and overfuel, and as said by Stevesbluewrx, there are no performance gains whatsoever.
Been to several rolling roads where I've seen various STi owners upset cos their cars have lost between 15 and 20bhp due to DVs.
Yes fit one where it's going to get remapped with it fitted, that's a different case.

First thing I did to my STi when I bought it was to take the silly Dump Valve off. Much better now.

HKS one does sound alright to be fair, although after a while it might start to sound pretentious and would attract youngsters in corsas' following you up the road.

In reply to the original poster, I'd say Not, not really worth it on a near standard/lightly modded car, will probably cause more harm than good.

Wouldn't put one on mine as the standard recirculating one seems just fine.

Hell NO!

Absolute waste of time and money. I've got a Apexi induction kit and resonator delete pipe on mine and it sounds great no TTTSSSHHHH noise, just a sort of snort and best of all only when I'm really putting my foot down, so no silly noises at parking speeds

There are far better ways of spending mone on your Impreza!!!!

That car was my first ever scoob, many years ago.

I'm converted to NOT running a VTA now. Standard recirculating valve FTW!

Still got a Blitz NUR Spec R on my Type R though

NO
They are sad and everyone will laugh at you apart from the chavs and 15 year old girls who think you could help them reproduce so they can get a council house

Your engine will blow up eventually and then there would be another scooby in the scrap yard
Far better turn the radio up and windows down if you want people to look at you going past

Spend the money on a good wax and polish

When I bought my car it had a broke standard dump valve on it so I bought a VTA dump valve. Lasted a few months then the novalty wore off quickly. Did make some nice pops and bangs though. Went and bought a standard recirc, much nicer to drive much nicer to listen to. Every so often you can hear the standard one dumping.

OK It's a definite NO I don't want chavs looking at me nor do I want attention. And Lordy I'm using Zymol Carbon Wax among other things on the car,not cutting corners there.
There were a few DV's fiitted to cars at this years NBO and I agree they were a bit sad.

Do explain how a dv would have any affect what so ever on a car's power?

Only answer I can think of is a leaking DV. When I had my WRX I put a Baileys DV12 on and that was staying open unknown to me . Was shocked to see it had lost me 33bhp from previous power run pre using a recirc DV.

I don,t know about losing power but I believe they cause over fuelling.

Agree with the above,a dump/bov valve will not show any performance increase over the std recirculating valve. The only difference's are it will make a noise(vta),and will cause overfuelling which is normally associated with pops & bangs coming from the exhaust and occasional 'flame' outs.Personally if you have your car mapped with a vta dump valve then at least the mapper can 'govern' for these safetly
On early cars the plastic recirc valves had a chance that they could split, but later classics onwards have sealed ally recircs which are pretty damn near bullet proof and good for 350+ bhp. I have fitted 4 different dumpvalves to my car previously(baileys, forge, turbosmart, blitz) and some do operate better than others, but the car feels at its smoothest with the std recirc on imho. Also noticed a slightly better mpg over a month with the std recirc on

Don't Do It.

I assume you have met the end of your warranty, in which case use the money on some mods to improve power and handling.
