Default Re mapped Scooby's

This might seen a strange question to ask but if a scooby has been chipped or mapped how hard is it to remove the map?

Also If the 2 litre STI's are the JDM, can you get away with using a UK fuel re map ?

cheers

You can flash a standard map to the ECU. Any mapper would have a copy of the standard maps. Wouldn't take a minute.

Chris, there is no power increase with a UK fuel remap that your car has, if anything its a little dulled down but the insurance co should not penalise you for it as your car's map from japan is for 100 ron fuel and the uk fuel map is for 97 ron

The standard map you will see less MPG and may feel like a dog unless the map is really that bad? What the reason mate if you don't mind me asking?

And post about it on a public forum...

Maybe I read it as the guy suggesting he would have a performance remap and simply declare it's only for fuel purposes... Certainly how it came across...

What year STi do you have?
If you reset the map then you run the risk of blowing the engine unless you put octain booster in with every tank of fuel

Chris - speak to Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels re insurance.

JDM's are 2.0 but not all 2.0 are JDM.

Remap for UK fuel is a safe thing to do ... if it generates higher hp as a side effect then great

If it's a specific map JUST for fuel then fair enough - I somehow doubt that it wouldn't be though, making his insurance null and void.

No I'm just honest with my insurers. Seems a lot of the recent "txt spk" fodder joining scoobynet seek to wanna escape declaring everything to their insurers to save a few quid, thus driving up premiums through void insurance. Are you one of them?

Actually here is what I refer too. Re-read this where you blatantly suggest having your car remapped but then saying to your insurers "oh it's only for fuel purposes, honestly"...

Insurance Company won't let me re map a STI but thinking just say its got a remap for fuel like as they'll let me do that

and as i have refered to it was the guy's idea at the insure company. Didnt mean was going follow through with it. just if had too have a uk fuel re map and it did gain any performance then it did.

Every car ive insured ive allways declared every mod ive had

Well I certainly wouldn't be using a company that promotes voiding your insurance. Unless you had a copy of the phone conversation, come claim time the **** would hit the preverbal fan
